"Sanem?"
Sanem stops and turns around, halfway down the street already to go and find the newspaper, to see her best friend running up.
"Oh my God I can't believe it, you finally got rid of him?!" Ayhan asks happily, joining her as she starts walking again.
"Who?"
"Zeberdjet! He says he's getting married! He's been telling everyone at the store who would listen! Even the ones who don't."
Sanem groans then looks at Ayhan. "I wish I did get rid of him but sadly, he thinks he's marrying me!"
Ayhan laughs. "Oh come on!" When Sanem doesn't laugh, Ayhan stops and looks at her, smile fading. "Are you serious?"
"Unfortunately," Sanem laments and looks back at her house. "My parents already decided to gift wrap me for him!" Ayhan frowns. "What am I going to do Ayhan?" An oncoming car honks its horn and they move out of the way. "I refuse to marry him! And if I want to stay unmarried I have to find a job."
Ayhan was confused at the turning of the subject but she goes with it, knowing Sanem better than anyone. "Uhm, okay, then we'll find you one...we can talk to Osman, and the guy at the market again and - "
"Ayhan, I need permanent work. Corporate work. Like Leyla."
"How are we supposed to find you something like that when you have no experience?" Ayhan asks carefully as they start walking.
Sanem's lips juts out. Ayhan was right. She had no experience except the store.
"Didn't they have open spots where your sister works? I swear she mentioned something last month..." Ayhan's train of thought dies down as she stares thoughtfully ahead.
Another car passes and honks and they once again move out of the way, having walked in the middle again.
Ayhan suddenly snaps her fingers and turns to Sanem. "The General Assistant position! If it's still available she can arrange everything!"
"My sister will never arrange anything for me," Sanem scoffs.
"She will."
Sanem shakes her head. "She won't."
"Why not?"
Sanem looks at Ayhan for a moment and Ayhan nods, starting to smile seeing Sanem slowly agree with her. "You're right. She's going to help me whether she wants to or not. I'm her little sister."
"Where are you going now?" Ayhan asks, laughing when Sanem turns on her heel and starts jogging back to the house.
Sanem grins, just waving at Ayhan who shakes her head and continues on her way. Sanem stops short when she sees a familiar grey van pulling up outside her house and hurries to beat the man now exiting. "Uncle Khalil? What are you doing here?"
"Ah, Sanem," Khalil looks up from his notebook and shuts the van door. "Is your father home?"
"Why? What do you want with him?"
"I need to talk to him. He's missed four installments on his debt. I have to pay 40 000 back to my boss that I don't have." He sighs. "I have to talk to him about it now or I'll be forced to go to court with the matter." He steps around Sanem to ring the bell.
She stops him again. "Stop! What debt are you talking about?"
"Sorry Sanem, I have to talk to him."
"No! You can't!" Sanem was suddenly very worried about her sickly father. This wasn't good news. If he gets more stress added on to her not having a job, it will send him to the hospital again. "He'll have a heart attack. He's sick uncle Khalil, he has diabetes and high blood pressure - "
