Can freezes at the sight in front of him. His eyes go to Sanem first and then Polen in confusion. What the hell is going on here?
He carefully walks in, Polen smiling and Sanem also smiling for a moment before she stops, looking a bit taken aback.
"Mr Can, you're here."
I live here...I think...? Can stares at her and then he blinks and looks at Polen. "Uh, Polen? What's going on here?"
"Can!" Polen smiles widely at him and walks over. "I wanted to surprise you." She hugs him and he puts his arms around her lightly, his eyes going to Sanem who is looking at the floor now, frowning.
"I was going to come see you."
"As usual, I couldn't wait." Polen laughs and Can lets her go, just nodding, giving her a small smile.
"And why are you here Sanem?" he asks.
Sanem looks at him and shakes her head. "It's nothing important. It was about work."
"Thanks to Sanem I didn't have to wait here all by myself. We chatted a bit. It was very nice."
Can doesn't know what kind of twilight zone he was in but he didn't want to be in it.
"Sanem, it really was nice to meet you." Polen shakes Sanem's hand again.
Sanem shakes it back dazedly. "The same, Polen." Can glances at their hands and then at Sanem's face. "Goodnight," Sanem says hurriedly and rushes past him. "Goodnight, Mr Can," she mumbles in passing.
"I'll be right back," he holds up a finger for her to wait and nods at Polen.
"Okay."
Can turns to the flung open door. "Sanem, wait a second!" he calls and follows her out. "Sanem!" Sanem keeps walking. "Sanem can you stop? Sanem! I don't want to yell after you like this, just stop walking!"
Sanem finally stops and turns to him. "I'm listening Mr Can."
He stops in front of her and she steps back, looking ready to run. "What happened Sanem? Why did you come here?"
She shakes her head. "It really isn't important, I already sorted it out."
"What's not important?" It was the middle of the night and she was at his house, it had to be important.
"I told you, it's nothing," Sanem says with a noncommital shrug. "There's nothing wrong, Mr Can."
She always fell back on her fighting spirit shen she was cornered, something Can's come to notice.
"Sanem - "
"I said it's fine, good night to you." Sanem turns and starts walking.
"And I said hold on," Can walks after her the step she got away. "Whether it is or is not important, I want to know what brought you here. Will you please tell me?"
Sanem stares at him, lost in his eyes for a second and before she shakes it off and she says, "Mr Can, even if I tell you now, you're not really in a position to listen." He sighs and purses his lips. "Miss Polen is here, and she's prepared dinner for you." Sanem tries not to sound bitter. "She made you raw meat." Can's brows lifts a bit at her tone. "I think you should go back in." She turns again, fisting her hand tighter around her bag strap.
"Sanem, I didn't know Polen was coming, okay? This was just as much of a surprise to me."
"Was it a surprise?" Sanem asks.
"Yes."
"That makes two of us then. We met at the door, and we stared at each other for way too long."
