1936 to 1939
A Civil War between the Nationalist Spain led by General Franco and the Republican Spain led by President Azaña broke out when the Election during that year left many unsatisfied since the leftist popular won instead of Ceda which was the breaking point.
Although General Franco at that time was a Co Leader when the Civil War happened nevertheless he became the Supreme leader after a successful offensive on the south by African Troops transferred by German Ships and others while being escorted by the British.
But many attempts on taking the capital failed atleast they were able to take some of the south and the industrial rich north.
Since they were supplied by German and other countries they received quality equipment and volunteer troops which were effective during the war.
While the Republicans launched an offensive on Zaragoza which ended in catastrophe which saw the republican army getting heavy losses.
But the true success that led to the future victory for the Nationalist was that they managed to secure the agricultural lands thus they have a large amount of food with more coming and an organized Nationalist governance ensured stability.
Due to this Citizens under The Nationalist were well fed and live a normal life while the Republicans were now a mess due to many facyions trying to get powers.
Which saw the Republicans against many Factions such as Anarchist, Far Left and socialists faction in Catalonia in 1937 which was the same year that the German Reich started it's war against Italy which dragged Great Britain to send some of its fleet to support the German advanced while also evacuating civilians.
But this Civil War served as an experience for the German Reich who by now send troops, tanks and aircraft to Spain.
As a result leading for a future fighting doctrine for the German army to be implemented during Ww2.
While in the air German aircraft proved they are superior mostly securing air dominance for most of the war.
They targeted Military targets only since they were ordered by Franco to not do that since Franco needs to have a good reputation.
Nevertheless their is still warcrimes committed by both sides but mostly ignored since the Nationalist want to win.
In 1938 the Nationalist managed to secure a crucial victory over the Republicans in their offensive in Aragon which saw the Republicans sliced.
Attempts by the Republicans to reunite failed and essentially drained their military power.
By 1939 Catalonia was easily subdued by Franco and that same year the war was over.
Atleast for Spain not for the rest of Europe.
