Chapter 21 ~ Drailey Talk

I only actually have a couple of chapters left since the competition is just around the corner. Mostly, because episode 11 will hopefully soon be released, I've decided to come back and try and finish this book before then. Alright? Enjoy!

Jake arrived at school, it was finally Friday! In about 6-7 hours, he would be performing in the competition! He couldn't believe it! After everything that happened, he was back in the club and able to perform! ...but, then he remembered what Micheal told him yesterday. He was gonna have to leave the club and break up with Hailey. Sure, they could still be friends at school! But, he wasn't allowed to go in or near her house. Jake just hoped that in a year's time, Micheal would keep his promise and reconsider....hopefully..."STOP! Stop thinking about shit like that!" Jake thought to himself. "The competition's today! Yeah, what happens after sucks, but! I gotta put all my effort in the practices today. No. Matter. What!" Jake thought, smiling brightly as he walked to his locker. Nothing could ruin his mood! NOTHING! ...now, usually this would be the moment when Jake would get to his locker and see something that would ruin his mood and day. But thankfully, nothing today...it was quite odd actually. But, it was better than having his mood ruined, that's for sure.

After, he immediately walked over to Hailey's locker, her not being there. So, he went to the music room. Zander, Luke, Sean and Milly were all in there. "Oh, hey, Jake." Sean said, smiling and waving. "What are you guys doing?" Jake asked. "Making sure our instruments and stuff is perfect for practice." Luke said. "Makes sense. The competition is later today after all." Jake said. "Yeah. We're gonna crush it though! No need to worry!" Milly said, smiling. "Well, have you guys seen Hailey?" Jake asked. "Apparently she went to talk to Miss Jones. Dunno though, she left like 5 minutes ago." Zander said, Jake nodding and leaving, walking to Miss Jones' classroom. Hailey was in there, talking to Miss Jones, leaving shortly before Jake arrived. When she left, she was walking back to the music room, before her arm was grabbed by someone. "Huh-?" She quickly turned around and saw Drew. "D-Drew? Let go of me-!" She said, him letting go now that he had her attention.

"I need to ask you something." Drew said. "You could've warned me before hand, you do have my number, y'know?" Hailey responded. "It doesn't matter now, we're here, can we talk?" Drew asked. Hailey sighed. "Fine. What do you want?" She asked. "...how's Jake doing?" Drew asked. "Huh? Is that it? You could've messaged him, or even just ask him." Hailey said. "I know, I know. Just answer the question, please?" Drew replied. "Look, he's fine. He's happy, excited, well, the whole club is. He's felt a lot better since everyone accepted him back." Hailey told Drew. "Why'd you ask?" She added. Drew looked down. The real reason was that he still had a crush on Jake, but, could he really say that to Hailey? Jake's girlfriend. "...Drew?" Hailey asked, Drew looking back up. "W-Why does it matter? Perhaps- I was just curious. Maybe I just really needed to know how Jake was doing! Why do you care?! It doesn't matter!" Drew kinda ranted, looking back down again. "...Drew, is there something you wanna tell me?" Hailey asked.

"...d-did Jake ever tell you what I told him on Wednesday after he left the nurses office without telling you guys?" Drew asked, Hailey shaking her head. "What did you tell him?" Hailey asked. "....I- ...I...d-don't tell Jake I told you this, okay?" Drew told Hailey, she nodded in response. "...I c-confessed...that I had a....c-crush on him. And- that I had for...for a while..." Drew told Hailey, looking up slightly. "Oh." Hailey said, looking surprised. "...I didn't feel good when I find out you two for dating...I felt sad...I still slightly do but...not as much. I know you and Jake are happy- and...and I'm glad." Drew added, looking fully up at Hailey and having a slight smile. Hailey stood still for a minute, looking at Drew. "...well...I'm glad you were able to tell Jake that, while knowing he was dating me. And for also telling me." Hailey responded to Drew, having a slight smile as well.

Drew and Hailey were in silence for about another minute, keeping their smiles, until Drew broke the silence. "There was something else I wanted to ask you, actually." He said. "Oh, what is it?" Hailey asked. "On Tuesday, you said you wanted to talk, saying we'd discuss it after I told you that I manipulated Jake. But, we never did since the club disrupted us." Drew explained. "Was there something specific you wanted to ask?" He added. "Hm, there was, actually. Why'd you bully me, Zander and the rest of the club for all those years?" Hailey asked, Drew feeling like he froze up. He did indeed have an answer, he had even told Jake it previously. That must mean that he hasn't told Hailey. They were(well, at least Drew saw and thought they were) in a good mood at the moment, so, he should probably tell her. Plus, he already confessed his crush to Jake to Hailey. So, Drew could probably tell her, right? Yeah, he probably could.

"It's simple. I was jealous. I always was. I was jealous of your musical talent, jealous of Zander's, Luke's, Milly's and Sean's. Hell, I was even slightly jealous of Jake's....when I was younger, I was actually into music. I loved listening to it, I had a list of favourite artists and I even got my dad to buy me guitar when I was younger and he got me lessons. Though, as you can guess...I gave up." Drew explained to Hailey. "Oh...Drew, um-" Hailey began, thinking what to say. She did notice how Drew seemed to be looking sad after telling her that. So, she decided to sigh and hugged him. Drew's eyes widened, he was surprised. Hailey was surprised that she actually hugged him. Though, it didn't stop Drew from hugging Hailey back. Thank god Jake wasn't here, he might've thought something weird was going on. Well, something weird was going on. HAILEY AND DREW WERE HUGGING FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Well, they were also talking without insulting each other, so, yeah, it was all pretty weird. At least Zander wasn't there, he would've probably killed Drew.

After a few minutes, they both let go of each other, blushing slightly. Drew and Hailey looked down, thinking about what really just happened. "...s-so...u-uh...you coming to the competition tonight...?" Hailey asked. "O-Oh, um, yeah! J-Jake said he'd talk to be afterwards, plus, I'm- well, y'know, interested in it." Drew answered. "T-That's cool. I'll- see you there and, maybe talk to you afterwards as well." Hailey said, both of them looking up at each other and awkwardly smiling. "...w-well, bye!" They basically both said at the same time before walking in the opposite directions. While Hailey was walking back to the music room, Jake saw her and ran up to her. "Hailey! Hey!" He said, Hailey turning around and smiling. "Oh, hey Jake!" She said. "I tried to find you. Zander said you were with Miss Jones, but when I went there, I didn't see you- are you blushing?" Jake asked, Hailey realising she still was and looked away. "...m-mhm." She said. "Did something happen? Are you okay?" He asked, wanting to make sure she was okay. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Hailey said, Jake nodding as he didn't want to pry into it too much. So, he just shrugged his shoulders and they both walked back to the music room together.
