Camille Jordan has always been there for Lloyd. Why can't he just notice her.
Truly notice her.

I sat in bed. It had been three weeks without Lloyd.
I sat on FaceTime with Lloyd very late. He had grown facial hair again. His hair was shorter at the top.
"Are you doing okay?" He asked. I nodded.
"Just tired. How are you?"
"Tired too. The bed feels cold."
I smiled. "Mine too."
He sighed. "Are you actually doing okay?"
I looked at him over the phone. I nodded. "I'm okay. I promise."
He sighed and shook his head. "I don't believe you wife."
"I don't care." I whispered as I laid back. He smiled.
"Max doing good?" He asked. I nodded.
"He misses you. I mean when he isn't sleeping in his own bed he will come in here and take your spot. He claims to say that 'daddy's not here so I'll be here for you'."
"And that's why I love that boy. God he's sweet. He knows his mama misses me."
"Shut up. I don't. I'm okay."
"Keep telling yourself that baby."
I gave him a look. He smiled. I missed his smile so much.
"Talk to me." He said.
I sighed. "I just wish you were here..."
"Less than two months." He said. I gave him a sigh. He smiled.
"It's okay." He whispered. I nodded.
"Good thing you're coming home in time for Christmas."
"I wouldn't miss that. Come on." He said. I smiled.
"You need sleep." I whispered.
"Okay. I love you so much."
"I love you too." I said.
He waved me bye before hanging up. I sighed and looked out my window.
I felt bad for not opening up. But my wall was built. He couldn't ask. I'll break it down later.
I'll be here. Living here lonely. I was gonna stay here and not make a sound.
I heard my door open. Max came in with a blanket and a stuffy.
"Hi mama."
"Hey baby."
"Do you need someone to sleep with?" Such a polite boy.
"Sure. Come here." I said as I picked him up. I set him on Lloyd's side. He snuggled up. I made sure he had a barrier of pillows from the edge.
I kissed his head before laying down with him.
"Your dad just called." I said. He perked up.
"Really? Can you call?" He asked. "I wanna say goodnight."
I sighed and nodded. I called lloyd again. He picked up right away. He was tucked in bed, obviously tired. I smiled at him and handed Max the phone.
"Hi daddy."
Lloyd gasped. "Hey buddy. What are you doing up?"
"I'm helping mom feel less lonely. I feel bad for her." He said. I chuckled.
"That's my boy. I'm glad you're helping her. You need some sleep though."
He nodded. "I love you."
Lloyd blew him a kiss. "I love you too handsome."
He smiled and handed me back the phone. I looked at lloyd.
"Love you." I said.
"I love you too. Hey just relax. Get some good sleep okay?"
I nodded. "Okay. Talk to you later."
"Goodnight honey." He said and hung up.
I looked over at my little munchkin. "You get sleep too."
He nodded and yawned. I tucked him in tight before laying down with him. He snuggled up to his stuffy.
If I didn't have max I think I would go insane. I loved this boy with everything I had. I really did love being a mother. I felt like I could love someone on a different level. I don't love him romantically like Lloyd. He was my little love.
I watched as my little boy fell asleep. I watched him hug his stuffy as he slept. His little hands held it tight.
I knew already that he was gifted like me, so to speak. He was smarter than average. He was way more advanced than the usual three year old.
I loved his soft hair and his chubby cheeks. His cute little outfits. Making him food. Bubble baths. Storytimes.
Seriously. I loved being a mom.
I loved sleeping on my chest and when he was just tiny. I loved teaching him new things like how to walk and talk.
But I already missed how lloyd could make him open up immediately.
I closed my eyes and tried not to think about it. But as I closed my eyes, Max came closer to me. I smiled and held him close.
My baby. Never grow up.

"And one plus one is?"
"Two!" He said. I nodded and handed him a piece of candy. I finished off my coffee as my phone rang.
I picked it up. It was denny, weirdly.
I let it ring. I didn't wanna talk to him. I finished cleaning my mug in the sink before going to the pantry to get max some goldfish. I put them in a bowl and gave him some juice.
As I did that, my phone blew up from texts from denny.
Denny: stop ignoring. We have a 911 Camille I'm serious answer the phone 911 Camille
*3 missed calls
I looked over at max before answering.
"Hello?" He said.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Lloyd has been shot, it's a code red. I'm heading to Romania now, but do you need me to hook up your private jet?"
"I- yes."
Stay calm. Max is here.
"What about the kid?"
"We will have to bring him with too. It's short notice."
"Okay. I'll see you there and send you coordinates. I gotta tell you now though, he's currently on life support."
I took a deep breath. My brain wasn't computing.
"Okay. I'll see you there."
I hung up. Max was still eating.
"Hey babe. We're gonna go on a trip to where daddy's at. Okay?"
He nodded. I picked him up and grabbed our emergency bags from the closet. I grabbed a gun and put it on my back before putting on a light jacket. I put max in a hat and light sweatshirt and grabbed his blanket and stuffy.
