"Rick, Ian, I have something important to share with you both" my father says as we're seated in his front. We nod for him to go on.

"Well, I am the Don of the Cortez Cartel, a gang from my family which I inherited to become king"

"I'm finally telling you boys because I feel my time of death is near. Well, we have a great battle ahead with the Rodriguez gang. We go long way back but all that's not important now"

"Their leader, Stefan Rodriguez, has a daughter who we planned to kidnap but word got to me that she's already in their custody"

"You'll know her. She's Rick's girlfriend, Jasmine. She doesn't know he was her father, she also just found out"

"Our aim is to kill her and her father so their gang has no leader and therefore scatters" my father ends.

So Jasmine has a father she knew nothing about and who is also my dad's enemy. This is the time to earn my dads love.

"So dad what can I do?" I ask and I see him smile at eagerness. "Wow son, you're really eager to do this. I'm so proud of you and Ian, what about you?" he asks Ian.

He's actually proud of me. It's been a while he's said nice things to me.

Ian is still pondering over what to say, he doesn't want anything bad to happen to Jasmine. Me too but my dad is my first priority.

"Uh sure. What do we have to do?" he hesitates. He obviously doesn't want to be part of this.

"Well, since your mother is out of town, you both would be trained to fight and use guns too" he says and I smile.

I've always wanted to use a gun. I loved the way it's used during action movies.

"Okay dad" I smirk.

"Come here" Ian drags me from my where I'm practicing to shoot. He takes me to a corner.

"What? Stop dragging me like that. Can't you see I was busy?" I remove his hand annoyingly from my clothes.

"So you're willing to actually hurt Jasmine? All for what? To gain dad's attention? Hurting her is not worth it and you know it. She's your girlfriend for Christ's sake" Ian scolds me.

"Oh so you know she's my girlfriend and yet you still kissed her? Don't you dare talk about hurting anyone with me"

"Of course dad's attention seems like nothing to you, you ungrateful thing but his attention is everything to me and I'm willing to do anything for it"

"And anything in the sense of even that if killing Jasmine is what it takes then, I will" I yell and walk out.

I don't think I have the mind to actually kill anyone especially Jas, she's grown so much on me.

I hope I don't have to be the one to hurt her.

***

Knock! Knock! I knock on my dad's home office door. "Come in" he replies and I enter. He's working on some documents.

"Oh.. hello Rick. What is the problem?" he looks up to see me. "Uh dad. I came to discuss the issue at hand, about the Jasmine's family issue" I tell him.

"Oh, you're scared of hurting your girlfriend. It's not that bad. Just think of it as they've hurt your father for so long and this is just revenge" he replies me.

I think about it and it's true, they've hurt my father for him to be saying this and also, training his sons.

You might think I'm wicked but I'm not.

"Okay dad. Anything for you" I say and he smirks. "I hope you and your brother have been going for training?" he asks.

"Yes dad. We're almost ready for battle" I inform him. "Good, you need to be trained well. You don't know if that's the last time you'll see me" he frowns.

"Don't say that dad. We'll make sure nothing bad happens to you especially me" I bow my head in respect.

"This is the real son I raised. I'm really proud of you these days, Rick" he stands up to shake me. He actually stood up? For me? Yes!

"Thanks dad" I shake him back.

This is really all I've ever wanted.

~ In this chapter, most people would see Rick as a selfish boy who's desperate for his fathers love and his willing to do anything for it.

But I see, a broken boy who's been deprived of his fathers love for so long and now he's getting it so he's willing to do stupid things to get it.

He's wrong though but his father is at fault also.
