Chapter 21: "Prepare to be wowed"

"Well, I came to see you" he smiles and I go to meet him in my pyjamas, "Hey Rick".

Don't blame me, it's evening. I took my bath earlier.

"You're in your pjs and it's just 6:30pm?" he says to me, curiously.

"I had my bath early and I had no plans to go anywhere so why not dress in my pjs" I answer.

"Oh wow. Okay then" he says, stopping himself from asking more questions. "So what's up?" I ask him cause I'm still wondering.

"Uh.. I wanted to ask you if you could accompany somewhere on a Friday night" he smiles but it looked pretty forced, like he's thinking of something else.

"My sisters remembrance. It's her birthday" he says with his head bowed. And I feel bad for asking.

"I'm sorry Rick. I'll come" I smile, hoping to help the problem. He looks at me and holds my hand, "Thank you Jas. I'll send you the address".

"Okay sure" I tell him. "And dress nicely. My mum is doing a live show so, you know what to do. You'll come with Diana, Sean invited her"

"I'll have come pick you up but I need to help out at home. It's gonna be a full house you know" he smiles at me.

"That's fine Rick, you don't need to bother. Prepare to be wowed, I'm gonna be on TV!!" I squeal and hug him.

He hugs me back, I wave at him and he leaves.

"That was actually... cute to watch" Ayisha said as I lock the door after me.

"Wait what?" I say, surprised at her compliment. Ayisha actually complimented me.

"I'm sure you heard me, judging from your shocked expression" she smiled at me.

"Well, what can I say? You don't look like someone who fancies these things you know" I say to her.

"I don't like to show that I do fancy them but, I'm still human so I have feelings and emotions" she pouts her cute lips.

"Okay okay" I raise my hand in slight defeat. "Yeah so, you and Rick are a thing now?" she asks me.

"Nah, we're just friends. I think it's best to take these things slowly. He just came to invite me to a dinner" I tell her, intentionally leaving out his sister's part.

"Oh that's fine then" she says. "Thanks for listening though" I tell her.

"Anytime Jas. Anytime" she smiles at me.

For the past few days, Ayisha and I started talking much longer than before. Let's say we became closer.

"He ended up falling down flat. We laughed cause his guilt led to that" I laugh with Ayisha while seated on her bed.

"He fell? That's too bad. Well, he is a liar so let's say he deserves it" she laughs more.

"Um.. the laughing girls over there, stop the noise. Y'all are not the only ones staying here" Amelia says in annoyance.

I reply her, "Well, buzzkill. If you must know, what we're discussing is really funny to not laugh loud about. Got it?" I say cause Amelia is always so mean to Ayisha.

"Uh.. Jas, you need to watch your tone. Since when did you get close to this freak?" Amelia asked.

"Ayisha here is not a freak. Watch your mouth" I reply her, glaring at her.

"Well, are you now her mouthpiece? Why can't she reply herself. You scared, little freak?" Amelia said, angering me.

"Amelia, that's enough" Diana said. "No don't tell me that. Let the freak speak herself. She scared?" Amelia stood up, moving next to Ayisha.

"Amelia. Don't you dare ever speak to me like this. I am not a freak. How dare you!" Ayisha pushed her back.

I tried to separate them. "No no. Don't hold me back Jas, I've had enough of this girl. Amelia, do you realise how much you caused me. Do you?"

"You can't possibly cause you were never in my shoes. I honestly hope one day, everyone will see the truth about me other than the lie you poisoned and them with. Inshallah"

"This is your last insult to me. Don't dare me Amelia" Ayisha says and walks out in annoyance.

Whoa! What the fuck just happened and what was Ayisha talking about?
