Chapter 46: "...it hurt you a lot when you shot your own brother"

Argh! My head hurts so much. I groan in pain, my head hurts so freaking bad. I see my hand has a drip connected to all those bags that had water in it. I don't know their names, lol.

I see some get well soon cards and some flowers by the bed. 'Where am I?' I think to myself and I start smelling a lot of medicines and syringes.

Oh! I'm at a hospital, my head finally says but why? Shit! Was I shot? Is Ian dead? All these questions get me confused and I start struggling out of the bed.

"Calm down sugar, calm down" a voice tells me and I'm met with his eyes. "Ian? You're not dead?" I question him.

"No sugar. I'm here, I'm always here for you" he answers me and I smile at the nickname I was so in love with.

"Doc, she's awake" Ian calls out to a doctor who was passing by. The doctor comes in, with a nurse following him.

"Oh good morning Jasmine. I'm Doctor Isaac" he smiles at me. "Hey doc. Am I okay?" I go straight to the point.

"Well, we'll run some tests to confirm that but, seeing that you've been out for a week. I think you'll be just fine" he tells me.

"Wait... I've been asleep or I've been in a coma for a whole week?" I yell outrageously. I'm confused yet shocked at the same time. Was I injured that bad? What exactly happened?

"Yes sugar. You were in a seven day coma. We kept praying you'll wake up" Ian tells me. "So you've been here since" I ask Ian.

"Yeah, I just go home to change my clothes. My mum says hi by the way" he tells me.

Wow, Ian is such a darling.

"I'll give you guys time to talk. I'll be back to check on you Jasmine" Dr Isaac smiles and leaves.

"So.. how did I blackout? What happened?" I ask him. "After I shot Rick, you fainted due to the amount of blood you lost from your shot arm. Since then, we've been hoping for you to wake up" he smiles at me.

"We? Who is we? Diana, where's Diana?" I ask him curiously. "She's in her room because she was also badly injured. But the we, are your friends. Guys, she's up" he yells.

As if they were already waiting, I see Sierra, Kat, Kayla and Sean walking into my room. "Oh my gosh" my eyes become teary and I put my hand over my mouth in shock when I see Sierra and Kat.

I thought I'll never see them again.

"Girl, we missed you" Sierra cried as she and Kat hugs me. "Ah" I wince, my arm still hurts a bit. "Oh, we're sorry" Kat apologises and I'm so happy to see my best friends.

"We have a lot to talk about, young lady" Sierra smiles at me. "I know and I have a lot of apologies to say" I say with my eyes still teary as I smile.

"You guys came too?" I say in shock as I see Rick's friends who turned into mine. "What do you mean? Why won't we? You're out friend too. Yes, our friend was a psycho when he comes to his dad" Sean starts.

"I mean he almost murdered you. Staying loyal to him and not talking to you would be super sinful to you and God. We love you Jas and we're your friends too" Kayla ends and she wants to hug me but says later.

"Thank you so much guys. That meant lot" I smile at them.

I met Diana a few hours ago. Now, it's night time. I see Ian dozing off on the couch next to my bed, isn't he going home?

"Ian?" I call him but he doesn't hear me then, I call him two more times and he finally answers. "Sugar, you called me?" he asks me.

"Yes I did. Aren't you going home though?" I ask him, concerned about his mum. "Nah, I already told my mum that you finally woke up and she told me I could spend the night here if I wanted" he smiles.

"But how did she cope? You know, with your brother and dad's death?" I asked curiously. I really wondered how she felt after hearing their deaths and all they've been doing.

"At first, I called her to the hospital the night all these things went down. She came and saw her husband's corpse. Rick was in surgery and fortunately, he died" he laughs but I could still hear a bit of sadness in his voice.

He continues, "She asked me what happened and I explained everything that happened. Every detail from the gangs till the fight. She cried so much on my shoulder"

"She felt like a bad mum for not being there for us to shield us from dad's trouble. She always knew he was into illegal things but, she wasn't sure what exactly"

"She really was sad and disappointed about Rick, she wondered what possessed him. She's not really doing okay so for now, she's seeing a therapist"

"She wants to see you sometime though. She feels the need to apologise to you, she feels serious guilt. Even I, feel some guilt" he ends with a very sad smile.

"Come here" I open my arms to get a hug and he smiles, hugging me back.

"I know this is really hard on your family especially with me, centred in it all. No matter how much you might have hated Rick, it hurt you a lot when you shot your own brother"

"You can pretend like you don't care but I know you do Ian, you don't need to pretend with me. I'm also sorry for making you kill Rick, even though he kinda deserved it" we laugh and I poke his nose.

"The bottom line is that what you did was really brave for me. And I really love you for that, I swear" I hug him tightly despite my arm pain.

"I love you too sugar" he hugged me back and kissed my forehead.
