A little surprise !

Last night Viviana stayed over at a friend's house with whom she then went to kindergarten this morning, where she is still attending the summer center. For once Maya and I didn't plan anything special, we had thought it would also be nice to stay in the quiet of our home, watching a movie, without too many demands. Too bad that I had an inkling, for a few days now, that Maya was too thoughtful and it turned out, right in the middle of the movie, that she planned to buy a house for us, building it from scratch, and that she not only planned to go live there, with all of us, but also already showed it to Viviana. What were my intentions of a quiet evening of cuddles and kisses and maybe even something more, thus turned into a frosty evening of silences and long faces.

Being in front of Amelia's office door costs me no small amount of pride, but at this point I really need a confrontation.

A < were you waiting for me?> Amelia asks, coming into the hallway behind me. I nod and wait for her to open the office door, to go and take refuge in the massage chairs, no less than two, that Amelia keeps in the office. She looks at me with arched eyebrows.

A < are you that bad off? > I sigh.

C < what would you do if your girlfriend told you she bought a house for you?> Amelia opens her mouth wide and sits down, too.

A < are we talking about a girlfriend with whom you are expecting a child? And who already lives with you and your daughter?> I nod. < and who is therefore an architect?> I snort.

C < but what does that have to do with anything? Can you answer the question?>

A < I would say 95% yes..>

C < what is the 5% that makes you deny it?>

A < what if I don't like her taste in furniture...?> I roll my eyes.

C < couldn't you be a little less specific and talk more generally?> I ask unnerved and Amelia looks at me with a grimace.

A < let's do this then: what do you want to hear? So I'll answer you with exactly the words you suggest and we'll get it over with..>

C < I'd like some fucking advice!> I exclaim.

A < and I'm giving it to you!>

C < no, you're kidding me...95%, come on!> I snort, as she looks at me with her arms crossed.

A < I'm teasing you because I don't understand the point of your crisis or your paranoia or your doubts!!! You live together, you are having another child together..>

C < technically it's the first child together..> I correct her and she rolls her eyes.

A < so the problem is this? Instead of another house would you like to regularize things?> I look at her surprised.

C < I never thought about it actually..> I reply after a few moments.

A < then what is it that makes you insecure?>

C < why buy a house behind my back? Why make such a blatant gesture? We've been arguing for weeks because I don't feel helped when I ask her to tidy up the guest room and what does she do? Instead of talking to me she makes up bullshit, makes me nervous, because in the meantime she's planning a move behind my back?> Amelia raises an eyebrow.

A < do you know that almost everyone would just find it very romantic?>

C < well, I don't! I want to have the right to speak!>
