Hi guys!
So.. here we are!
This chapter starts where we left off in chapter 2 (Maya tells Carina that she is going away on business with Caterina...), but remember that italics are flashbacks: there will be something (or someone 👀) from the past...
thanks always for your support
see you soon
enjoy your reading!

I'm already in bed, reading a book, when Maya enters the room, after finishing washing the kitchen and the dishes used during dinner. I glance back at her and it makes me smile to see her walking as if she were on a carpet of eggs not to be broken at all. She slips slowly into the bed and as always tries to get my attention by going on easy ground.

M < is Vivi sleeping?> I sigh and answer without looking at her.

C < yes..> I say cold. Maya also sighs and I feel her gaze on me, unsure on what should be the next step.

M < do we have to talk about it?> she asks vaguely, even if the reference is crystal clear for me.

C < it depends. Is there something else you have to say about it?> she sighs.

M < no. But why do you react like this?> I snort and close my book, turning to look at her.

C < what do you want?> she shrugs, in trouble.

M < nothing. I don't understand why you are mad with me...> I raise my eyes to the sky and I turn to put my book on the nightstand. < I'm sorry if I was late..> she says unsure.

C < as if for the first time..> I retort sourly, turning back to look at her.

M < I didn't do it on purpose, you know that... >

C < were you planning the vacation with Caterina?> I ask, but immediately bite my tongue.

M < it's not a vacation, it's a business trip..>

C < in Puglia..>

M < what difference would it make if the trip was to the ugliest place in the world?>

C < none, you'd be happy to go with her anyway..> she rolls her eyes and I feel we're on the point where we could both go too far.

M < love..> she begins more accommodatingly, but I interrupt her.

C < no, you're right. It's stupid of me to be jealous..> I admit and she sighs.

M < it's not stupid, however, it's a business trip, I told you as soon as I knew..>

C < that is, a few days before? > I ask raising an eyebrow.

M < yes..> and she begins to tell me in detail how they decided practically at the last minute, some time ago, to participate in this call for a redevelopment project, and that they had practically all forgotten about it, until the request for a meeting in the municipality came almost immediately. All the while I nod without commenting.

M < I always try to explain everything, can you make an effort too, please?> I sigh.

C < I'm trying..> I say, between my teeth, but well glad I didn't let the situation escalate as it did a few days ago.

Maya's mom's presence in our lives is as precious as ever: we can finally think about more calmly organizing moments as a couple, without having to go crazy trying to figure out where and with whom to leave Viviana temporarily.

Tonight I decided, as a surprise, to drop Viviana off at Maya's mom's and then pick the latter up from work, again as a surprise. Today is officially six months since Maya moved in with us and I really wanted to spend a dinner out with just her. At work, I spent the past two weeks asking anyone for advice on where to take her for dinner and eventually they suggested a great place, both according to coworker reviews and internet reviews, in the Castelli Romani area.
