QOC:

Aiden:
My dreams are often quite weird. Sometimes I can lucid dream and control them, sometimes I have regular dreams and I don't realize that I'm in one. Now, very rarely, I get dreams where I wake up, but I'm not able to get out of them, and control that as I would be able to while lucid dreaming. These are usually the weirdest things ever to watch in general. As of right now, I'm dreaming, but I can't wake up, no matter what. I don't remember much of last night, other than the fact that I was sitting on the couch with everyone and watching The Little Mermaid. I'm walking through this dark void. It's colorless, purely just black, white, and gray. I don't know when I'm going to wake up, but I hope I don't wake up with an embarrassing story of how I was sleep-talking again.
"Where the actual heck am I this time?" I whispered to myself, still walking while looking around, "This is really boring."
Suddenly, my dream shifted, as if on cue to my sentence. A blinding light flashed and I shut my eyes, then opened them to see the new setting I was trapped in.
An older version of me.
In a room.
With a girl.
Cuddling together, lovingly, while watching something together on a laptop.
I gagged. "What?! Why am I even in this dream?"
Older me chuckled and smoothed the dark hair of the girl that was laying in my chest. I pulled her closer towards myself and took a deep breath, as if I was happy like this. I scowled at my older, more matured version of me then walked to the other side of the room to get a glimpse of the girl I'd been supposedly embracing whole-heartedly this entire time. On our left hands lay two simple silver bands on our ring fingers.
My heart stopped.
My eyes widened.
I stood there in shock, watching the girl next to me.
Arundhati Shah.
She smiled and giggled at me, then kissed me quickly. "I love you, Aiden."
"I love you too, Shah," I replied, smiling against her beautiful face.
My eyes flew open as I came back from my dream in a cold sweat. I looked around the room without sitting up. I wasn't in the living room anymore, in fact, I was in my bed, sunlight shining through my blinds.
I smoothed my hair down and muttered to myself. "No. Freaking. Way."
"Mmph," Someone murmured beside me, "Chicken wings..."
I looked to the side of me and realized in more shock that Aru Shah was in fact cuddling me, in bed, in real life. I felt my face heat up at the sight of this, but I had to admit it did feel nice.
Maybe I can get away with a few more minutes.
I turned towards her, then wrapped my arms around her neck, and pulled her closer towards me. To my surprise, she hugged me tighter and also pulled me closer, resting her head on my collar bone. Her chest rose and fell as she took small, calm, breaths while sleeping soundly. She looked so calm, with her face resting, and her smooth brown skin almost radiating in the natural light. Her long lashes grazed the top of her cheeks ever so slightly, and sometimes they even twitched as her mind ran through her own dreams.
Can I love you? Would that be such a crime?
WAIT. NO. YOU CAN'T LOVE SHAH. THAT IS A CRIME.
But the thought would be nice, wouldn't it?
Yes, it would, but unfortunately we can't do that. It's weak to fall in love.
Is it really?
YES. YES IT IS!
I slapped myself to calm the mental argument going on in my brain.
"No." I whispered to myself, "Don't you even dare."
I ran a hand through her hair and smoothed it down calmingly, while adjusting my other hand to rest on the small of her back.
"I'm sorry for liking you," I whispered.
I kissed the top of her head and rested my chin in the same place, sighing at the same time. A few moments of silence passed, then I heard someone at the door slowly turn the knob. I shut my eyes but kept them open slightly to see who was coming in. Brynne, Rudy, Mini, and my mom came inside to see if we were awake.
"They're literally the cutest, don't you think, Malini?" Mini whispered, grinning.
"Yes," My mom whispered back, "They seem to be made for each other."
I tried holding back on blushing, and I guess they didn't notice.
"Y'know Mini," Rudy started, "We've been in the same position as them countless times and you didn't say anything whatsoever. What's the big id–"
"RUDY!" Mini whisper-yelled at him, "NOT HERE!"
"Oh. Bad timing, sorry dude."
Mini rolled her eyes and looked at Brynne. "When those two get together, we gotta make sure they don't call each other 'dude.'" Mini side-eyed Rudy. "They're not friends. They're lovers. So it only makes sense that you wouldn't call each other dude. Stupid idiot."
Brynne chuckled, and I found myself trying not to laugh as well. They all exited the room, and I laid there, still as a rock, savoring the scent of my crush's hair, the warmth of her skin, and the tranquility of the moment.
"I love you." I whispered once more, then got up to go brush my teeth.
