A week has passed since Lena viewed Dawn's memories in the undercroft and so far things have been pretty quiet. Christmas was only a week and a half away and because of that Lena and her friends sat in the library trying to finish up their work for the end of term.
Lena hoped that Christmas break would be calm, after everything that happened, she needed a moment to think without much else going on. She never exactly celebrated Christmas, not necessarily because she didn't want to, but her family never celebrated with her. They would typically leave Lena at home with her cat while they went to see their other relatives. He was the only true memory of Christmas she had, but like everything else he was taken with them.
"Ugh." Sebastian growls as he throws his book onto the table in front of them. "I can't focus, I hate the end of term. It's way too much pressure."
Lena looked up at him from across the table as she placed a finger in her alchemy book. "Sebastian, take a breath love." She says calmly.
"Sorry," he breathes, slumping onto the table in front of him. He rested his chin lazily on his sprawled arms that reached across the table towards Lena. She gave him a smile as he looked up to her with his tired eyes.
"Perhaps you need a break my friend." Natty suggests as she leaned over Garreth's shoulder, she was helping him with his charms work.
"I say we may all need a bit of a break." Garreth sighs, glancing up to Natty as he leaned back while crossing his arms over his chest.
"Does anyone know if the assignment for history is due tomorrow or the next day? I must've fallen asleep when Professor Binns was talking." Ominis asks as he sat back in his chair with his own frustrated huff, Imelda sat at his side with his robe thrown over her like a blanket.
"It's due tomorrow." Lena replied, watching as Sebastian gave her a flirty wink that made her giggle to herself.
Ominis threw his head back with a breathy sigh. "I absolutely despise history of magic.... So much."
Imelda rolled her eyes as she wrapped herself up tighter in his robe. "It may not be so bad if you just paid attention... or stayed awake."
"Imelda you don't even take history you can't talk."
"Guys could you please take the arguing elsewhere?" Poppy asks, flipping the page to her beast book. She didn't take her eyes off of it, as if she were too focused.
Lena smiled as she saw Dawn and Poppy sitting back to back on the couch beside the table they were at, each of them were pretty silent with their noses buried into their books. She was glad Dawn had another good friend aside from herself, Poppy was the calm he probably needed and they seemed to have similar interests. She could definitely tell a good friendship was blossoming.
"Lena?" Sebastian whispered to her, snapping her from her thoughts.
"Yes?" She whispered back playfully as she leaned over the table a bit to hear his silent voice over their friends' chatter.
"Could I... pull you aside for a moment?" He looked at their friends and back at her. "I'd like to speak to you alone please, it's about something I'd rather not say out loud."
Lena tilted her head at him with a nod. "Sure love." She whispered as she stood up, turning to the group. "Guys, we will be right back."
"Alright." Ominis replied, clearly not fully hearing her as he went straight back into his conversation with the others.
Lena looked to Sebastian with a shrug before turning to follow him around the corner behind one of the bookshelves. It was dark as the space was only lit up by a few lanterns.
