Chapter 14: Permission.

After last night of everyone hanging around at molllys, she had gotten so tired she was never like this, it was definitely the cancer hitting her. Jay was insisting on not leaving her but she had promised him that she will see him tomorrow. I'm her mind she knew she did the right thing, but her heart was scared and it was scared for him because he was so heartbroken and hurt when she told him and if she goes then she doesn't know what will happen to him. Once thing is for sure.. the jay Halstead that everyone knew as funny, loving Will become hard and careless. He would find 100 different ways to get himself killed and she did not want that. She shaked the thoughts out of her head and headed downstairs, once she landed downstairs she saw that Hank was sat down in the kuchen. He pointed his eyes to the things on the table and it was her tablet and water. She quickly had them and say Infront of him, Hank grabbed the juice and placed it infront of with a little bit of eggs on the side. She smiled at him and started eating.

' so I just need to go into the district to finish of some paper work and I willl be home as soon as I can okay' she nodded her head and they spoke for a while until Hank had to go.

When Hank had headed to the district he saw that everyone was in, it was just paper work day anyway.

' finish all your paperwork if there's no cases today' he said gruffly and headed into the office not meeting anyone's eyes. After a short while, he heard a knock on his door and it was jay.

' come on in Halstead what's up?' He asked. Jay took the seat infront of him.

'How's Erin?' He asked. And Hank saw the pain was still in his eyes.

' she's doing okay.... For now' Hank whispered the last part because he didn't know what was going to happen.

' I was really pissed when I found out about it along with everyone else. Al, Kim knew about it.. and you know I didn't know' his voice broke at the end, and Hank shaked his head.

' jay you know why-'

' yeah now I know.. and the reason I'm here is to ask your permission to take Erin on a date' jay said nervously, hanks head shot up with eyes widened.

' why?' Hank questioned.

' why what?'

' why do you want to take her out? And why ask me'

' I asked you because your her father regardless of what anyone says. She once said to me whoever needed her dads permission to date her should leave it, but im here cause I want to do it the right way... and the reason I want to take her out is because I want her to remeber this before she gets stuck in a hospital room she will need this day before she's admitted there' hanks eyes softened at the words Halstead just shooted at him, he was taken by surprise. This was just like him and camille, he remembered the time when he had asked camilles father to take camille out and he just stared at him for a good five minutes gave the dad talk and left. Now he knows that this guy infront of him is good enough for his daughter and if camille was here she definitely would agree with this.

' yeah you can. You take care of her alright, she's a bit fragile right now. When you pick her up remember to take her medicines with her' jay smiled as he got the approval from Erins pseudo father.

' thanks Hank' voight put his hand out and shaked his hand.

' don't hurt her Halstead, not like last time' he said as jay nodded his head firmily he head no intention of hurting her or leaving her like he had last time. He left the room with a smile on his face and went to prepare the date. This was going to be exciting and he hoped erin loved it because that's what she needed today before she left to be sucked into a grey white hospital surrounded with nothing but machines around her draining the energy around her.

He went into the breakroom to get a coffee for himself and he smiled to himself as he was thinking about the day ahead.

' what's gotten you so happy?' Kim asked as she got herself some coffee.

' I'm taking Erin out on a date today' he spoke as he took a sip of his coffee.

' and you got voights approval?' She sided with eyebrows up.

' yeah' she looked at him flabbergasted. Hank voight really have jay Halstead the thumbs up to go on out on a date with Erin lindsey.

' wow that is a huge step' she said as she smiled aswell. She was happy for the both of them.

It was a minute of silence before Kim spoke ' im sorry for not telling you Jay. I wanted to tell you but I couldn't'

' I understand, Er told me all about it. No worries. But I wanted to thank you for being there for her when she needed someone from the unit. Even if it wasn't me' jay spoke, Erin had told him everything about Kim knowing and they had gotten pretty close, best friends even. Er had told him about how Kim had been there for her more than anyone can ask. And she was glad that Kim was her best friend.

' yeah, but that's what best friends are for right' she shrugged her shoulders and took a sip of her coffee.

' now tell me what you have planned, you need the best friend approval to' so jay started to tell her everything that he had planned for this day. He was happy and excited he just couldn't wait to see the look on her face.
