Chapter 31.

Halstead watched as they were putting Erin into the MRI scan, the had let him join in the room since he was their friend and brother. Rhodes and will were sat down on the chairs as Erin was lowed onto the bed, she looked up to see Jay. she signaled with her fingers that she was okay, he smiled at her and the machine slid her in.

" okay pictures up!" Jays eyes slid onto the screen infront of him, he had no idea what was going on so he was waiting for one of these doctors to say something.

" you see that" Will questioned Rhodes, a few minutes later. Goodwin had arrived to look at the scans, she greeted Jay and stood between her doctors.

There was a few minutes of silence and now Jay was getting really agitated, why weren't they saying anything? Was it bad? They are doctors aren't they meant to be talking about results of a paitent. Had the cancer progressed?  " can someone say something? Because if no one is saying something I'm thinking something major is going on!" Jay exclaimed, will looked at his brother and realised he was really stressing.

" no no Jay, it's all good. The chemo is working, look if you see here, there are her brain scans the tumour here has shrunk" he pointed out to his brother, Rhodes then took over " and here is her heart, when the cancer progressed it effect the area near the heart but with the help of chemo it's gone" Jay gasped as he heard the information, his Erin was nearly done with chemo. She was going to be alright.

" so, so what were trying to say hopefully with a few more sessions of chemo the whole tumour should be gone.. I'm actually quiet suprised, but Erin's got a strong body, her body can handle this" Goodwin spoke, he looked at the three people in the room and sighed a relief, his eyes were watering as he heard the news.

The nurse had helped Erin out of the machine and Erin went into the bathroom to get changed, Jay was stood outside the door waiting for her, she opened the door to see his face.  " what's wrong?" She questioned bh's motioned for her to sit down on the chair as he kneeled down and held her hand "your scaring me Jay, what's happened"

" you only have a few round of chemo left.. and then your tumour should be gone" she smiled at him tears leaking out of her eyes. But they were not sad tears they were happy tears. She gulfed him into a tight hug " are you sure?" She whispered, he nodded his head against her shoulder and she laughed.

After the request Hank and Alvin made to bunny, she had went to go visit her child's no good father. She was sat in the visiting room waiting for him to enter, she looked up and saw the man walking towards her.

" Barbra" only he was allowed to call her that.

" David" she breathed out, he took a seat opposite her

" it's been too long, how have you been? I would ask you about Erin, but you aren't in her life no more so I won't bother" she saw that smirk on his face, and she replied " what do you want David? Why did you request to see me?" She questioned.

David ran his hand through his beard " I want Erin back, and the only way to do that is to get rid of Hank Voight" she sucked in her breath " so why do you need me for that?" She held her eye with him.

" because your going to help me.. you see, I tried to get rid of him once but it didn't work. Don't know why, but it didn't work. Erin was there to rescue him again, but now is the time that I finish him off, once and for all.. you aren't going to say a word to him my dear Barbara you forget we once had a relationship" he stood up and signaled for the guard to take him, " our relationship was beautiful wasn't it" he gave her that smug look and he was taken away. She needed to tell Hank voight, she may hate him but she knew he could put her in jail for Martelli.

Hank and Alvin were walking up the the stairs that led to the bullpen when he had gotten that call from bunny, he and Al went into the office and the others looked at them suspiciously, they didn't say a word. Antonio looked at the members in the room who were equally confused.

" he wants to end me so he can get to Erin, no way in hell is he going to achieve that!" Hank exclaimed as he kicked his chair, Alvin straightened his hat and looked at his long time friend and partner " I have an idea, but you may not like it" he spoke, Alvin told him the idea and he agreed that was the best course of action. Whilst this was going on, Hank got a phone call from Erin, she told him that she only had a few more rounds of chemo, and hopefully the cancer should have disappeared. He smiled and thanked every god that was there, he really didn't want Erin to end up like Camille did.

At the end of the day, Hank and Al were going out of the district to go home, when Hank was about to grab his car handle he heard something. There was a bomb, he took a step back and.... BOOM!

All the officers from the district ran outside with the sound of the explosion, platt ran outside seeing Al outside running to Hank who was on the floor. She ordered an ambulance to get here ASAP.

A man dressed up in all black,  who was hiding between the rusty trees looked at the explosion that happened right infront of him and spoke into his phone " he's dead"

After what felt like forever, Al had called Erin " hey Al what's going on?" She questioned as she was filling her glass of water. He heard her voice and he didn't want to tell her but he had to.

" it's Hank Erin" her eyes widened, what did he do now? " he's dead Erin" the glass of water fell on the floor creating a chaos, she took a step back as her phone also fell out of her hand which landed in the pile of glass on the floor. Jay heard the sound and ran outside of their bedroom, where he saw Erin frozen with her eyes widened as she was leaning her back onto the counter. He walked towards her carefully over the broken pieces that was literally representing her state right now and grabbed onto her arms " what's happened Er?" He asked softyly, she looked up at him but didn't answer. He into her eyes and he sucked a breath in, he had seen those eyes before.. when Nadia died. When the lights in her had turned off, he heard something in the background and it was coming from her phone, he picked her phone up and brought it to his ear, the information he heard next broke his heart and his whole body. He put the phone away and put Erin in a hug, but she was so shook and lost that her arms became loose, and she didn't hug him back, tears were now brimming in his eyes. God, how did this happen? To Hank voight out of everyone, he's as tough as they come. She withdrew from the hug and looked at him in the eyes, no words, no nothing. Jay was slowly seeing the light in her eyes disappearing more than ever.. he hoped she doesn't go down the road she did when Nadia died, but this was her father who died. He knew that now she needed more protecting than ever, even if she's a strong person.. he will always be there to protect her.
