"so where'd you and luke go yesterday?" calum asked, closing the driver's side door to my range rover. "one second you guys were eating, next you were walking in through the front door."

we were on our way to meet up with michael and chloe, they had planned a double date with us. the truth was michael was too nervous to take her on a normal date, plus he knew how much i wanted to meet her, so he convinced her to go on this date with us. score!

"oh, i just took him to the snack machine," i lied to my boyfriend. "he was craving something chocolate."

i didn't want to tell him the truth, it was between luke and i, not luke the boys and i.

looking over to me, calum says, "oh okay, we just thought you guys snuck off to fuck."

choking on the water i was drinking, i mutter, "what the fuck calum?"

"what?" he laughs, "i'm only joking."

"you better be," i said, rolling my eyes at the boy. "hurry up, we need to beat the traffic."

it was as if the god's were against us, we had been in traffic for almost an hour now. we both texted michael to let him know we weren't going to make it but were down for ice cream or something after.

he was beyond pissed, 'now i have to actually talk to her and make conversation, thanks a lot jay' i quote.

"i'm seriously sick of la," calum confessed, looking out the driver's side window. "sometimes i just really miss australia, ya know?"

"same with me, home here isn't home like where my mom is," i sigh, taking a hold of cal's hand. "things get better, i swear."

"you're a good friend, jade."

"so are you, cal."

"can i ask you something?" calum asks, hesitating a bit. "but it has to stay between us, bit of advice."

"sure, go ahead."

"i have this friend, and he likes this girl," he starts, pausing and continues. "but his other friend likes the same girl, and he doesn't know what to do."

"is his friend like a best friend or not quite?" i questioned my friend. "i mean, there are so many details i'd need to know."

"yeah, they're best friends, but more like brothers. his friend doesn't know about his feelings for the girl," calum added.

"has he ever thought about telling his friend?"

"no, not at all, scared to ruin their friendship."

"well here's what i'd say to the boy, talk to your friend. if he's really your best friend, he'd understand and not be a complete douche," i state. "and if he does react a certain why, maybe he isn't your best friend. he shouldn't be scared to tell his best friend anything, it's called a best friend for a reason."

smiling towards me, calum says, "thanks a lot jade, i'll tell him exactly what you said."

the car goes silent for a bit, that's until we both see the exit we need to take.

"oh my god, we're almost there!" ~ "hell yeah, almost there! i need to pee."
