twenty-six.

jade and i had managed to sneak out her apartment when the boys were fighting over the remote. i was pretty thankful, though quickly i realized i would be alone with jade and spilling the truth. not only about what caused sophie and i to break up, but my true feelings for her. so this was an awkward situation for myself.

"i know the perfect spot, no one will find or see us at all," jade piped up once were half way down her hallway, heading to the elevator, grabbing my hand in the process.

not going to lie, but as soon as her fingers went between mine, i got little baby butterflies in my stomach. they were baby sized for now, but in less than twenty minutes they'll be full blown grown ass butterflies.

she pulled in me in random directions, it felt like we were going in circles, but eventually we made it to a quiet garden-like place on the roof of her building.

"this is my garden," the girl said, smiling at the flowers and vines that had grown.

"your garden?" i asked, putting major emphasis on your. "what do you mean?"

"i mean exactly what i said, silly," jade stated, laughing at the dumbfounded look that was bow present on my face. "i convinced the landlord to let me have a garden up here, took a lot to convince her though."

"why did you exactly have to do?"

"sign a bunch of stuff for her family, shout her out at one of the award shows, oh and have a rose bush for her," she said, pointing to a bush of pink colored roses that were in full bloom. "i mean, i've always had a green thumb, so i didn't really care."

"i never knew that about you," i say, smiling up at the girl tending to the bushes, while i sat on a stool. "that's really cool, jay."

"enough about me, tell me whats been going on with you," putting a hand on my knee, sending chills down my back. "cal told me something happened with sophie."

"yeah about that, it was jus-" how was i suppose to tell the girl i've been crushing on, that my ex girlfriend broke up with me because i told her about my crush? "just i told her the truth about something and she didn't like my answer." its the truth, just not the whole problem.

sending me an apologetic face, jade says, "well i'm sorry to hear about that, i hope you two fix whatever it was that caused the problem."

"ehh, me too but also not really."

"what? why not?" jade asked, surprised from my answer.

"she's been kind of sketchy, like she's hiding something, but i don't know."

"don't worry about it dude, either way you'll be happy in the end," smiling and giving me a quick hug, jade continues. "lets go back in before the boy's notice we left."

"to be honest, i don't think they did."

"yeah, they're kind of ditsy, huh?"

"very."

kind of not ...
mixed emotions beyond repair.

but the truth WILL come out eventually
