luke

it had been hours since i left jade's room, some much was going through my mind. so many possible this or that's, i felt alone and worthless, even in this packed restaurant. but thankfully i had calum to help with that, i knew he could bring me out of this funk.

"do you think she's here?" he asked, eyes wandering, looking for the familiar brunette he had been thinking about since he first met her. "i hope she's here."

"did you ask me to come along so you weren't alone, or just needed someone here to pep talk you before you talk to whatshername?"

giggling, the boy answers truthfully, "both."

but before i could say a witty, or rather smart ass, remark, someone walks up on us. "hi, what can i get for you guys?"

"ileana, hi," calum said, cheeks turning red. "surprise seeing you here."

"i work here?" she replies, coming out more like a question.

smooth, cal.

"hi, sorry about him he's just starving and can't think straight, can we start off with some bread sticks and two waters?" i interject, because knowing calum he'll probably 'open mouth, insert foot' again.

smiling at both of us, she nods her head, "yeah I'll get that for you guys."

sighing and ruffling his hair, calum mentally beats himself up.

"dude, don't sweat it," i reassure him, "it's all good!"

"she just makes me nervous is all."

we sit around for a minute or two before ileana is back taking our order and off again. for a place that we thought no one would be at, it was pretty packed to the top for lunch time.

"calum, can i ask you something?"

"sure, what's up?"

thinking how i'd ask my question, i finally find the right words, but before i can say anything my phone goes off with jade's text tone.

jade: babe, i want to go out after y'alls rehearsal, can we?

letting out a loud and over dramatic sigh, calum states at me, concern written on his face.

"what's the matter, lukey?"

taking a deep breathe, i say, "it's a long story."

"well guess what man, i got all day!"

i tell him what i heard while at jade's, how i felt and how i pretty much ran away when i didn't know what exactly to do or say. he tells me he understands and reassures me there's no feelings towards jade anymore, strictly platonic.

"do what you think is right," he begins. "i'd love for you two to get together and live a happy life, but we never really know."

"i think i know what i'll do, thanks dude."

"anything for you, now here comes ileana," calum says, getting gitty.

"you look so nice," i smile at jade.

she's dressed head to toe in black, the dress fitting her every curve. nothing too revealing and not too much covered, just right. her hair is pulled back in a high bun, and a dark red lipstick adoring her lips.

"you too," she replies, placing a hand on my chest. if the circumstances were different, that slight gesture would've had me weak in the knees.

but right now, my mind was else where and preoccupied with the thought of what i'll be saying at dinner.

grabbing her hand, i lead her towards the elevator, "where are we going, luke?"

"you'll see."
