Everything was a blur. Sunny could hardly tell what was going on. Something was being pressed against his chest. He could make out the blurry figure of a person sitting next to him. They were talking, but he could hardly make out what they were saying.
After some trying, Sunny can understand some of it. He recognizes the person next to him. "Kel?" Before he can finish speaking, he breaks out into a cacophony of coughs.
"Woah! Hey, hey. Don't try to talk, Sunshine. It'll waste your energy." Kel spoke quickly, worry tinting his voice. Sunny's vision starts to unblur and he's able to make out more of his surroundings.
He was in the backseat of a car, Hero's car specifically. Kel sat next to him, keeping a towel firmly pressed against Sunny's bleeding chest.
Quietly, he manages to ask what happened. Kel tries to steady his breathing, "god, I wish I knew! I just found you in your room bleeding! And there was a knife on the floor! And before you ask, no I did not break into your house!"
Sunny raises a brow. He asks where they were going.
"To the hospital! You're bleeding out Sunny! Where'd you think we were going!? Gino's!?"
"Kel! Calm down, if you keep yelling you might stress him out." Hero scolds.
Sunny winces, finally processing the pain in his chest. "Do you know what happened, Sunny? Is there anything you can tell us?"
Sunny shakes his head. "No, he said no." Kel says. He can hear Hero sigh. After a second, the car comes to a stop. "Okay, we're here. Kel, bring him inside, quickly."
Sunny's eyes began to close, he felt woozy. He passes out as Kel rushes him inside.
Welcome to Whitespace.
You've been living here for as long as you can remember.
Slowly, Sunny opens his eyes. Omori is sat next to him, staring down at him.
You're lucky.
He mutters.
You're lucky he found you.
Sunny stares up at Omori, his expression blank. "I thought you left?"
Omori shakes his head.
No. I cannot leave while you are in this state.
"Do you want me to move to another state?"
Omori stares at him, dumbfounded.
What? No. I mean the state of your being.
Sunny raises a brow.
Your spirit, which is the vessel you are currently inhabiting, cannot feel or retain any injuries your physical body holds. So it makes sense why you are unaware. Your physical body is injured, fatally injured. You fell asleep to save energy for your body to fix itself. I cannot leave while you are this hurt.
Sunny nods slowly, not understanding any of what his counterpart said.
"How long will I be asleep?"
However long your body needs to repair itself. I wouldn't recommend moving around. At all. It'll slow the process as your spirit and physical body are still connected. Though the thread connecting the two is thin, it's still strong enough to keep you bonded. And I intend to keep it that way. You are not dying on my watch.
"But I…"
I know. But that's not what you deserve. Death is not your punishment. You are in no need of punishment. Mari would agree.
