It had been a few days since he told the truth. It wasn't easy. He had barely managed to get it out before he collapsed to the ground in tears. Aubrey yelled at him, almost punched him but Kel held her back. Hero was silent, but it was obvious that he was pissed. And Kel... it was hard to tell how he felt. It always was.

Everyone left without another word to him. Other than Aubrey spitting a few insults at him. He deserved it. Basil had heard the whole thing. Their last exchange for a while: simple, pained smiles as their somethings disappeared back into their minds. Sunny never bothered working up the energy to visit him again. He's probably already been discharged.

Sunny sighs, he wished he'd be discharged already so he and his mom could leave already. Go to the city where none of them will see his disgusting face ever again.

"Sunny! I've got good news!" As if on cue, his mother came waltzing in the room. Slowly, Sunny sits up. He looks at her expectantly. She sits down next to his bed, "so many people have told me about how much you've helped them Sunny."

Sunny tilts his head, what does that have to do with anything? "You went out of your way to help these people with the time you had left here. And that made me think."

His eye widened, nonononono. Please don't say it.

"I think we're going to stay. You've stepped so far out of your shell in just three days, baby. And I'm so proud of you. And that shows me how much you want to stay here."

No. No, he doesn't want to stay. He can't stay! They'll be out to get him for what he did!

"I know it's sudden, but I've already bought back the house. I was thinking we could redecorate the entire place, and give it a fresh new coat of paint. Doesn't that sound fun?"

"NO! No, we can't stay!"

His mother's eyes widen, taken aback by her son's sudden shout. "What? Why?"

"I-I told them! They hate me! They hate every fiber in my body! I know they do!" He was full on hyperventilating now.

His mother puts her hands on his shoulders, "hey, it's okay! I doubt they hate you. They just need some time to process."

Sunny looks at her in disbelief. "How could they not hate me!? I told them the truth! I told them I killed her! Of course they would hate me!"

"Sunny, you told me the truth, and I stayed with you. Why wouldn't they do the same?"

"Because you were obligated to do that! You could go to jail for dumping me out to fend for myself! You just kept me so that wouldn't happen to you!" He began sobbing.

"No, Sunny. That's not true. I kept you, because you are my son. And nothing can change that." She pulls him into a hug. "Yes, it took me a while to come to terms with it, but I still love you Sunny. You're my baby boy, and I'll never not love you."

Sunny sobs, hugging her tightly.

"And I'm sure they just need a little time as well. Okay?"

Sunny nods, burying his face in the crook of her neck. She rubbed his back gently, slowly calming him down. "Now, what color do you want to paint your room?"

"Y-Yellow."

---------------

Sunny looked around at the flowers surrounding him. All of them, gifted to him by his friends and neighbors, and all sorts of people throughout town. His mother had helped him keep them all healthy. He wanted to take them all home with him, even if it was a bit of a hassle.

Home... it felt nice calling it that. Knowing he has somewhere to go and feel safe. His mom told him that renovations were coming along nicely. The old piano room would be a guest bedroom, and the storage closet would become a small laundry/cat room since their bathroom was a bit small for a washer and dryer.
