"Hey, Kel?" Sunny says quietly.

The tanned boy turns around to face them. "Oh, hey Sunshine! Did you want to be partners for the project?" He asks. Sunny nods slowly. Kel smiles, "sweet! Pull a chair over!"

Sunny nods. They grab their chair and pull it up to Kel's table. They quietly sit down next to him. "So, what should we do? This is ancient Greek mythology, right?"

Sunny nods again. "How… how about… Achilles and Patroclus?" Their ears reddened slightly as they spoke.

"Ooh, yeah! That sounds fun!" Kel exclaims, writing their topic at the top of the sheet of paper. Sunny watches his hand as it moves. They wanted to hold his hand so bad. But they had no clue how he'd react.

They've heard that his family is awfully homophobic. Sunny isn't even out to Kel about being non-binary. It didn't feel good, but they didn't want to risk losing their friendship with him. If anything, being close to him is good enough. They'll just have to learn to repress these feelings.

It always seemed like time passed faster whenever Kel was around. He was just so pretty, and it was hard to focus on anything else. His tanned skin, toned muscles, bright brown eyes and silky brown hair were just so eye-catching. It was surprising he didn't have more girls interested in him.

Better yet, he was athletic. He was a part of the men's Faraway basketball team. Sunny used to be in a sport, tennis, but they weren't very good at it. They're not very fast. Nor do they have good reaction time. Tennis sucked ass. For Sunny at least.

Thinking about it, it seemed like everything about Kel was perfect. And Sunny? They were the quiet kid in the back of the class who stared out the window and daydreamed all hour. They hardly participated in any assignment where they had to be social. They just did the assignment alone.

The only reason they asked to be Kel's partner (other than have the opportunity to call Kel their partner) was because the student he always worked on projects on with was gone for the whole week. And they didn't want Kel to be overwhelmed with the work.

Sunny was good with mythology. Especially ancient Greek mythology. It was just so interesting. Also the fact that Achilles and Patroclus were obviously gay lovers. It's just obvious.

That's the main reason why they chose this topic. To test the waters. See if Kel knew about it and was chill with it. He seemed to be chill, but did he think they were gay lovers?

"Sunny? Are you listening?"

Sunny snaps back to reality. "Wh-what?" They turn to look at Kel and is met with his face directly in front of theirs. They yelp and quickly move away from him, causing themself to fall out of their chair and bonk the back of their head on another desk.

Kel quickly rushes over to help them. "Shit, are you okay?" Sunny groans quietly. "Ow, I think so…" they mutter. They could feel eyes on them.

Kel helps them up and puts his hand on the spot where they hit their head. Sunny suppresses a groan of pain, but they still wince slightly. "We should take you to the nurse, just in case." Kel mutters.

Kel takes Sunny's hand and leads them to the teacher's desk. "Mrs. Felton? I'm going to take Sunny to the nurse." Mrs. Felton nods, "alright, stay safe. Take your things with you, class is almost over."

Kel nods, "you wait outside, I'll grab our stuff." Sunny attempts to refuse, but they're ignored by Kel as he walks to their desks. The chatter in the classroom begins again.

Mrs. Felton looks at Sunny. "He's a good kid. You should tell him." Sunny fiddles with his sleeves. "I-I can't. What if he-" They're shushed by their teacher. "Just trust me. I've met his family, they are nothing like what any of the students say. Go for it."
