Bernardo was hospitalized, from which he was later transferred to his second, much smaller villa. His own doctor was supposed to treat him there. Torres had a concussion, a broken left leg and smoke inhalation, but with each passing day, he slowly recovered.

When the elder was unconscious, Narin was sitting next to him all the time, not leaving him even for a step. She spoke to him and pleaded in her prayers for the health of her guardian.

Billy, on the other hand, was unconscious for a week. He was dehydrated, very weak, and Bernardo's doctors had already treated all his wounds and fractures. It'll take him quite some time to recover.

"Dios, si vas a castigar a alguien, castígame a mí. Por favor salva a mi guardián. Berni no se merecía esto... (God, if you're going to punish someone, punish me. Please, save my guardian. Berni didn't deserve this...)" She whispered with folded arms, still sitting next to the unconscious Bernardo.

The woman sighed softly and looked at her guardian lying in her bed. Next to him was a drip to which the man was connected. The whole sight saddened Narin. The mulatto blamed herself for what had happened. She wanted to take revenge on the person responsible for the harm of her beloved guardian. She knew she wouldn't let him go. Whoever it was will pay dearly for this.

Vazquez got up from the chair where she was sitting right next to the lying Torres, and then adjusted the duvet that was covering him. A moment later, she tentatively took his hand and gently stroked it.

"I'm so sorry, Berni..." She whispered with tears in her eyes. While no one was looking, the mulatto girl let a few drops of tears fall. Immediately after, however, she wiped them and sighed heavily, then slowly left Bernardo's room.

In the corridor, she met Mauricio and Itzel, who were waiting for new news.

A week has passed since the unfortunate incident. Billy had recently woken up but Bernardo was sleeping most of the time because of the medication, he didn't get out of bed and it wasn't very possible to talk to him. Despite everything, Narin was still sitting next to him.

The assassin, seeing her friends, said nothing, only stepped aside a bit, took a deep breath and wanted to control the anger that was hidden in her. She was angry at herself and at the person responsible for the attack on Torres, even though she didn't know who it was yet. She decided to take out on the first thing she came across. She slammed her hand hard against the wall and immediately felt a burning pain as her knuckles turned red and began to bleed.

Serrano, seeing this, immediately ran to his friend and pulled her away from the wall, stopping her from attacking again.

"Calm down. " He pleaded, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"How am I supposed to calm down?! " Assassin screamed. "Its all my fault. Bill's kidnapping, Bernardo's attack, and the state they're in. I'm at fault here! " She called, broken. "I should've foreseen this, prevented this..."

"How could you know, chinita? " Brunet spoke in a soft voice. "No man can predict everything. Don't blame yourself, it won't help anyway. Hey, look at me. " He asked, but she didn't listen to him, so the trader gently grabbed her chin with his hand and turned her head so that she looked into his eyes. "Bernard is alive. So is Billy." He said looking her intently in the eyes. "That's the most important thing, you understand? They're alive and that's all that matters. And whoever is behind this, will pay for it. We'll get him. "

"I'll kill him. " Angry woman interjected. "I'll kill, I'll murder the bastard who dared hurt Berni. I'll kill him and all his relatives... They'll remember me. "

"Narin." Mauricio interrupted her. Only after his words the woman fall silent again, and when she looked into his eyes, she took a deep breath and calmed down much more. "It's okay, chinita. " He said softly, glad that his friend had calmed down. "You're not alone in this. Yes? " He asked to look at her, she slowly nodded her head.

"Yes..." She whispered in a barely audible voice, and her words made Serrano smile warmly.

Mauricio knew that when it came to murdering people, Narin wasn't joking. The woman has done it once before. She murdered everyone who was guilty of the death of a person close to her. She killed all the guilty and family people who did it to her. She even killed people who were innocent and helped her in her youth. When Vazquez goes berserk, nothing can stop her. She then becomes a completely different person, a machine to kill anyone who dares to stand in her way.

Serrano didn't want his friend to have to go through this again, so he was always there for her and tried to hold back from time with too hasty decisions. He saw that she was suffering, and he understood it. He also wanted to let her know every time that she was no longer alone. That she has the support of loved ones who will always help her.

Itzel silently watched the other two and realized more and more how strong Mauricio's feelings were for Narin. She had seen it before but thought it was just his stupid game. But now she could see that it was definitely more than that.

She suffered from unrequited love, but she felt that she wouldn't be able to do anything about it, change it. She loved Narin. Sometimes she wondered if her feelings for the young assassin were as strong as those she had for her beloved Celia. She couldn't judge it, but she knew that Vazquez was important to her.

Looking at Mauricio's relationship with Narin, she felt jealous. She didn't want to feel this way, but she couldn't control it. She didn't know what to do with her feelings either. She was aware that her beloved would never reciprocate her love, so recently, she thought about smothering these feelings even deeper. She didn't want to burden Narin with them, didn't want to hurt herself. She felt that it wouldn't be easy, that this feeling would stay with her forever, but even so, she decided to change her way of thinking. She wanted to feel something new. She hoped that in time she would be able to love someone who would reciprocate her feelings. However, she was afraid that even if she found someone like that, her constant feelings for Narin would only hurt the other person. So she decided to close her heart. She never wanted to fall in love again. It was too much for her. She didn't want to be hurt anymore, or hurt anyone else.

"Is it because of me that you're seething with anger? How nice... " They heard a slightly hoarse voice, and when they turned around, they saw that Bernardo was standing in the doorway. "I feel almost honored." He coughed but had a smile on his face.

Narin immediately ran to him and helped him regain his balance. She didn't expect the man to be able to get up now, she didn't expect that at all. Seeing her guardian again made her feel great relief and joy in her heart. She looked at him with concern, and even though she wanted to say something, she was speechless at that moment. She couldn't say anything.

Torres, seeing her reaction, smiled at her again and stroked his daughter's head.

"I know, mija. " He said in a warm voice, then pulled her with one hand and hugged her. With his other hand, he held on to the stand where his drip was hanging. "It's okay, mija... " He whispered to her and stroked her soothingly on the back. "An old fart like me has been through more than one operation. What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger. And something like that is definitely not going to take me out of this world. " He laughed softly.
