There was a deafening silence after the shot.

Surprised, Narin now looked at Itzel, clutching at her bleeding wound. Also at the same time, Mauricio ran to the assassin, put his hands on her shoulders and looked at the wounded woman.

"Itzel..." Vazquez whispered in disbelief.

"Itzel!" Candela cried and grabbed the wounded woman in her arms, then fell to her knees and leaned her friend against her. "Why?!" She screamed in tears. "Why did you do that?! Why did you cover me?! It was a bullet meant for me!"

"Shut up finally." Martinez stuttered and glanced at the gray-haired girl. "You talk too loud." She laughed softly and then looked at Narin. "You didn't expect this, did you, reinita?"

The mulatto girl was silent for a long time, only now she stamped her foot and cursed under her breath.

"Tch." She snorted and looked at the women. "Why?!" She said, devastated. "I should never have helped you! This wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for my bad decisions!"

"Tell me, reinita..." The black woman whispered trembling with pain. "Do you really regret these decisions that much?" She looked at the woman. "Really...? At least for a moment you didn't feel joy or... fun that we're with you?" She smiled faintly. "I was happy." She nodded. "Very." She smiled showing white teeth. "For me you were like a light in the tunnel, and our silly Candela... " She looked at the crying gray-haired girl. "She's always been like a little sister to me that I have to protect..." She smiled at her and stroked her cheek. "Don't cry silly, I'm not dying yet."

"Itzeeeel! " Castro cried.

"There, there... Hush." She patted her head.

Narin watched them silently, trying to control her emotions. The hand holding the gun began to shake. Mauricio, seeing this, gently slid his hand down the mulatto's shoulder, reaching for her hand, which he gently grabbed a moment later, while calming his beloved. He was still behind her, and Vazquez managed to calm down the moment she felt his presence.

"This should never have happened..." Assassin said, her voice breaking. A moment later, she looked at the women again and raised her gun, aiming at Candela.

"Reinita..." Itzel whispered.

"Narin." Mauricio placed a hand on her shoulder. "Think it over again."

"I've already thought about it, pachuco." She replied, tilting her head slightly towards him. A moment later, she looked back at the other companions. "Get out of here..." She whispered to Castro. "Get out and never come back! I don't want to see you here anymore!" She called.

The gray-haired girl was still crying, but hearing Narin's words, she carefully helped Itzel to sit down, then slowly got up on her feet and looked the mulatto in the eyes.

"H-hermana..."

"Don't say anything, just get out of here! " Woman shouted. "Just go! Get out!" She waved the hand in which she held the gun.

Candela decided not to annoy her anymore, so she looked at everyone gathered for the last time, and a moment later she ran out of the room. It wasn't until she was gone that Narin lowered her weapon, shedding tears that smeared the blood on her cheeks even more.

"Está bien ahora, chinita (It's okay)... " Serrano whispered to her and stroked her head soothingly. "Está bien..." He kept repeating.

Vazquez felt her emotions going crazy. Even though she was crying, she felt immense rage, pain, and even a kind of sadness. She didn't know what to do now, so she just left the room without a word, leaving Mauricio and Itzel alone.
