"It'll take a few hours. " Narin was saying as she walked to Mauricio's car, which was supposed to take her there. "But I'll let you know when it's all over." She stopped at the car door and looked at the brunet again. A moment later, she reached into his shirt and grabbed his sunglasses, which were hooked there.

Serrano just shook his head but couldn't hide his smile.

"I'll wait for your message. " He looked at the woman putting on his glasses.

"When I get back..." She opened the door of the vehicle and looked at him again. "You're going to tell me exactly what's going on, okay?" She wagged a finger at him.

"Aye, sir. " He nodded.

"You know..." She sighed. "It doesn't suit you to be so sad." She said, shaking her head. "I much prefer you with a smile." She added, getting behind the wheel of the car, and her words made the trader smile involuntarily.

"Just..."

"I'll be careful." Narin interrupted him, guessing what he meant. "Don't worry." She glanced at him again before closing the car door and turning it on.

"Narin?"

"Hm?"

"Am I like him?" Brunet asked, which caught her attention. "Arcenio." He said, which surprised her even more.

The woman thought for a moment, then smiled and looked at her companion.

"You're crazier." She said, smiling. "He was a bit calmer..." She said thoughtfully. "But that doesn't change the fact..." She looked at Mauricio again. "I like you just the way you are." She added, and her words made the trader smile. Only now he let her drive.

"Que tengas un buen día, señorita. (Have a nice day) " Serrano said, patting the roof of the vehicle gently and looking one last time at the mulatto girl driving away in his car.

The man sighed heavily, putting his hands in the pockets of his pants. He knew he had to tell Narin everything. But he was afraid of how she might react to it. He was sure of one thing, the assassin would want revenge and she would, and Mauricio knew he would be happy to help her. But that wasn't the only thing that was bothering him, not just the fact that his beloved might lose control again and murder everyone one by one. Brunet hoped that his family problems were over, but it turns out to be quite the opposite.

Mauricio didn't have a mother, she left him long ago when he was still little. He still remembers the moment his mother leave.

He could still see and clearly hear his parents arguing, one screaming at the other. Catalina, the young trader's mother, could no longer stand what his father was doing. She resented his shady dealings, connections with bad guys, and constant trouble with enemies and sometimes even the police. The woman tried to survive everything because of the love she had for Sebastian, but he changed a lot, and Catalina couldn't accept this change, so she decided to leave, leaving little Mauricio in the care of his father. He remembered running after her and grabbing her hand, begging her to stay. But Catalina simply pushed him away and left her former home.

"Don't be like your father."

Those were the last words the mother said to her son. Mauricio remembered that moment until today.

His father wasn't the best of people. He was mean, vindictive and didn't care about his offspring at all. Whenever Serrano made even a slight mistake in learning to read or write or anything else, his father would beat him, letting him know that it was a lesson for laziness and disobedience. Mauricio had had enough and one day he couldn't take it anymore. It was the day his father had beaten him so hard for the last time.
