"Are you sure you have everything?" Emmy asks as she watches her boyfriend put the last bag into the car. "I'm sure," Daveed says closing the trunk and joining Emmy in the front. "are you excited," Emmy asks turning back to face her daughter Cassie in the back. "yep," Cassie says smiling at her mom. "first summer at the beach house with Connie," Emmy says. "listen no funny business got it. I don't want you coming back pregnant, married, or dead. Got it " Daveed says looking at the younger girl. "yes sir," Cassie says. "I wouldn't mind the married part" Cassie mumbles under her breath. "I agree," Emmy tells the girl considering she heard her. "what," Daveed says turning his head quickly to look at the girl next to him."nothing," Cassie and Emmy says dismissing the discussion.

"wake up, cas," Daveed says lightly shaking the girl.  "I texted Su, she's going to open the door and sneak you in," Emmy tells the girl taking the bags out of the car. "okay, have a good time," Emmy says hugging the girl after she had gotten out of the car. "you're squeezing me a little too tight," cassie says patting her moms back. "my bad" Emmy says pulling away. "My turn," Daveed says hugging the girl after her.  "ill miss you" Daveed whispers into the girl's ear. "Cass" Susannah says opening the door. Susannah took the girl's hand and led her into the house. "Love you guys," Cassie says to her family as Susannah closes the door. "just act normal," Susannah says as the girls walk into the kitchen.

"Susannah, who is she," a woman with black asks noticing a young girl following after the blonde woman. "Cassie, this is Laurel, and Laurel this Cassie. She's Conrad's girlfriend" Susannah says introducing the two. "oh, how long," Laurel asks. Cassie goes to answer but Sussanah says something before her. " basically forever, but not until officially until a couple of years ago" Susannah tells her best friend. "nice to meet you" Laurel says sticking her hand out. "you too" the younger girl replies shaking Laurels hand. "what are we making" cassie says noticing pots and pans everywhere. "we have this feast the first day of summer" Laurel tells her. "I'm gonna take this upstairs," Susannah says picking up a bag.
"Why don't I help you" Laura suggests. "no you need to watch over the food," Susannah tells her. "I can help don't worry," Cassie says as she starts to wash her hands. "she has this handled. let me help" Laura says taking some of the luggage. "okay, we're taking this to Connie's room," Susannah says heading towards the stairs with Laura following. "she's the girl from that one Broadway show," Laurel says to Susannah as she follows the blonde. Cassie grabs a paper towel and dries her hands off before throwing it out. She hears the door open and ducks down behind the counters. She hears footsteps coming closer. She looks over the counter to see the famous Fisher brothers walk into the kitchen and immediately dunks back down.

"you know what it smells like," Jeremiah says to Conrad and Conrad makes a noise of acknowledgment. "Cassie's perfume," Jeremiah tells the boy. "you sound like your the one dating her," Conrad says teasing the boy as he makes his way to his room. "I'm not as nearly obsessed as you are," Jeremiah says following the boy.

"Just sit right there and we will call them down" Susannah instructs the girl so they can surprise Conrad and the girl just nods, taking the seat Susannah told her to sit at

"Just sit right there and we will call them down" Susannah instructs the girl so they can surprise Conrad and the girl just nods, taking the seat Susannah told her to sit at. "Dinners ready" Susannah calls out to the kids considering Laura was already down there. "woah who's the chick," a boy with black her, who was Laura's kid asked. "what who," another girl with brown hair, another one of Laurel kids says following after her brother. Laurel puts her finger over her lips, telling the two of them to be quiet. As footsteps get closer to the dining room, you can see blonde hair coming into everyone's view. "Cas" Jeremiah says noticing the brunette. "wait, as is she here," Conrad says speeding up after hearing him say the name of his girlfriend.

"hi," Cassie says standing up as Jeremiah comes to hug her. "alright it's my turn now," Conrad says as the two of them hug for a couple of seconds. "I saw her first," Jeremiah says towards the boy. "she's my girlfriend" Conrad replies. "girlfriend," the other kids say shocked. "why don't we all sit down," Susannah says taking a sit and Laurel sits next to her. "guys this is cassie, and cassie this is belly steven," Laurel says introducing her kids to the girl. "so um, cassie" belly starts "yeah" cassie replies. "how did you and Conrad meet," belly asks feeling jealousy bubble up inside her. "we grew up together" Conrad replies. "

"so why didn't you come to the beach house before," Laurel asked. "I visited my uncle over the summer," Cassie tells the older Woman.  "can't believe your dad allowed you," Jeremiah says laughing. "I just can't turn to him pregnant, married, or dead," Cassie says listing out her father's rule. "take notes on the first two, Conrad," Jeremiah tells the boy causing the table to laugh, while Conrad flips him off.

"Steven, I swear to God, if you look at that phone one more time, I'm putting it in the screen basket," Laurel tells her son as he shows Jeremiah. "something It's just, we want to see your beautiful faces. Can dinner be a screen-free zone? You know, like the olden days. "Susannah says, causing Laurel to laugh. "Steven," Jeremiah says before taking the boy's phone and tossing it into the basket. "Dude, are you kidding me?" Steven says in disbelief. "Boom! Nailed it." Jeremiah says flexing. "Okay, okay, okay, we get it, you've been working out," Steven says as the boy sits back in his seat.  "Oh, you're just jealous because Jere has a better body than you," Belly says smiling at her brother.

"Uh, no, actually, it's all about the lean look now. Otherwise, you can't wear tailored suits." Steven says trying to prove some point. "Sure, sure,"  Jeremiah says just going along. "Tailored suits," Conrad says chuckling a little. "When are you leaving for training camp, man? " Steven asks Conrad. Cassie grabs Conrad's hand under the table as the whole table goes quiet.

"Uh, he quit football." Jeremiah speaks up "Wh... Wait? you quit?" Steven says in disbelief. "Mm-hmm," Conrad confirms. "Are you kidding me, man? I'd-I'd kill to play college ball." Steven says "He can always change his mind." Susannah speaks up. "I'm not gonna change my mind. I was just gonna sit on the bench all season anyways." Conrad says annoyed. "Well, if you're not playing football anymore, what are you gonna do all summer?" Laurel asks "Oh, dude, you can work at the club. " Jeremiah suggests. "Yeah, with me and Jere," Steven says agreeing.  "Yeah. I'm not gonna work at the club." Conrad says looking at the boys.

"Wait, you guys are working this summer?" Belly asks the two "Yeah, I'm lifeguarding and Steven's working at the snack shop." Jeremiah answers. "Oh, Belly, Cassie I almost forgot. I have a surprise for you. " Susannah says standing up to grab two white envelopes. "So, this is why you had to stop by the country club," Laurel says connecting the dots and Susannah makes a confirmation noise. "What, uh, wh-wh-what is that?" belly asks. "I wrangled Belly and Cassie with an invitation to be a debutante," Susannah says. In all honesty, did Conrad want to do the whole deb thing again? No, but if Cassie wanted to he would.

"Is that the thing where the girls wear white dresses and curtsy?" Belly aks. "It's when a girl comes of age and is presented to society. I-I know it sounds silly, but I swear it's fun. Girls come from all over New England to Cousins just to be a part of it. You'll make so many, new friends." Susannah says trying to convince the two girls. "I cannot believe you are still holding on to this archaic dream," Laurel says to her best friend. "No, it used to be about finding a husband, but now it's about networking. They teach you leadership skills, like how to market yourself, and it benefits charity. It's, um, like a bat mitzvah." Susannah says continuing her rant.

"It is not like a bat mitzvah. There is nothing religious about a debutante ball." Laurel corrects coming back to the table after grabbing another bottle. "The whole Deb scene is bullshit. It's for sheep." Conrad says. "Yeah," Jeremiah agrees. "No offense guys, but your opinions were not needed," Cassie tells the Fisher brothers. "Thank you, Cas. It's when a girl has a coming out, it's a formal recognition she's reached maturity." Susannah says correcting the boys and Steven burst out laughing.  "Oh, sorry. I'm sorry. Mature?" Steven questions. "Belly?" Steven continues to question and Belly nods her head. "A-a couple of months ago you had a cat funeral. You made us all wear black." Steven says "Shut up, Steven" Belly tells him annoyed. "I saw you crying in your room," Steven says continuing "Wait, Mochi died? Dang. I'm sorry, Bells." Jeremiah says sympathetic towards the girl.

"Belly. Don't you want to get all dressed up?" Susannah says putting her focus back on the girl. "It's just not Belly's kind of thing. She's our feral little alley cat." Laurel says."I think you would look pretty in a white dress." Cassie says noticing the girl's confidence flattering a little. "I'll think about it," Belly tells the blonde woman. "She'll think about it," Susannah says excitedly.  "Cas" Susannah questions looking at the girl. "Yep," she says nodding at the woman she views as a mother, and Susannah claps her hands in excitement.
