Chapter 20

Day of the Calamity

Early in the morning was your last army meeting, before the Calamity would strike. Never in your live you have been nervous like now. Would you all be able to stop it? Is Zelda going to awake her powers at the Spring of Wisdom? You hoped so...

As all members of the army arrived, you started your speech. "Good morning. Before we go to action, I would like to say some things. First of all, thank you all for risking your life for our home. Thank you for wanting to protect your families and friends. You are very brave. Secondly, as you all know today is the day, we trained for a long time. A war means a lot of fight, misery and death but I hope sincerely, you are all going to survive."

You sighed deeply. "Revali, you have orders from the Castle what to do and we all believe in you. As for the others, I have faith in all of you. You are all strong and skilled warriors. Captains, lead your soldiers to your post and wait for instructions. But before you are heading there, go to your families. Hug them, kiss them and say goodbye as long as you have the chance for it. Goodbye my friends, see you in war."

Everyone started applauding and cheering and then they went home. Revali came over where you were standing. "Are you ready?" he asked. "I am never going to be ready for war but I have to do this. I have to protect our home. But to be honest, I am terribly scared. Please promise me to stay safe." you looked him in the eyes and felt your own eyes getting watery. He gave you a concerned look and all of sudden he hugged you tightly. "I promise but you have to promise me the same thing." Feeling tears running down your cheek you just nodded in respond.

This hug was all you needed to make you feel safe. You heard footsteps behind you and when you turned around there was Kent standing. "Ok, time to go now. I will let you two lovebirds alone" Revali said and left. In your chest was a little stinging feeling. "You did not tell him we broke up?" he asked calmly. "No I did not. Belive it or not but you are my smallest problem right now." You crossed your wings and stared him down.

"Listen (Y/N), we do not know if we are going to make it out alive from this war so I wanted to apologize for my behavior. It was not fair to forbid you something and it was a huge mistake. I do not why but this whole Revali thing made me so angry and I have never been like that before. I was wondering if we have another chance?" He looked at you with guilt and you could tell he was sorry for real.

"Thanks for your apology but honestly I do not want to think about it now. You already said it, who knows if we are going to make it out alive. But when this war is over and we both made it, we can have a serious talk. Are you ok with that?" He nodded in response. "Be safe out there (Y/N)." He turned on his heel and left you.

When everyone was gone, you went home to see your mother. She was in her hut and visibly nervous. "Mom, our time has come. I want to say goodbye and hug you for the last time" you said. Tears were welling up in her eyes. "My beloved (Y/N), you are talking as if you are going to die. Please stop that." She took you into a warm embrace and held you tightly.

"This was not my intention, I am sorry. I just want to spend a moment with you, just for the case I am not going to return. We do not know what is going to happen and we have to be prepared." She gave you a last squeeze and let go of you. "Mom, please stay here and wait until everything is over. Leave our home only if you really have to. You have enough supplies for a good while, I made sure of it. And one more thing, visit Revali's mother occasionally. She had the same fate as you and her only child is leaving for war."

Your mother caressed your cheek and said: "Even now you have a good heart and are watching out for others. Never lose that my child. I love you more than anything else. Now go, you have to save us all from demise" she gave you kiss upon your cheek. You sighed heavily. "I love you too mom, be safe" with that you left.

Revali was already on Tabantha Tower and was waiting for anything to happen. The afternoon went by without any suspicious things going on. It was now late in the afternoon.

'I am wondering if Zelda already left the Castle to visit the Spring of Wisdom' he thought. 'The day is almost over and nothing happened yet. What if the seer was wrong about the day of the outburst of the Calamity? We were preparing for this moment our whole lives and we never considered that the seer maybe could be wrong.' He was standing there for some more minutes until he suddenly saw a pink and black smoke surrounding the Castle with thunders all over it.

"This is bad. Extremely bad. If the calamity was able to overtake Hyrule Castle- Woah!" The Tower was shaking and inactivate itself. "Oh no, is it possible Ganon overtook all the Towers? I have to act, now!" He quickly flew up to Vah Medoh. Little did he know, there was something waiting for him....
