"I thought I was having a cardiac arrest!"
Too dramatic, he thought, for being stopped randomly by police. But he lets her continue on her rambles anyway. It won't hurt to listen.
"The new pancake in that Japanese cafe is so fluffy! I swear it felt like biting into a cloud!"
Clouds do looks fluffy sometimes but the texture would be like touching mist, he thought. But he continues to listen to her sweet adventure.
"Don't you think I look fat in these? I look like a cow."
That's only in your head, he thought. But he compliments her and her effort to lose weight for the past weeks. Even though she sneaks into the kitchen at 3 am.
"You see, I want to run in the flower field at night and dance under the stars-filled sky barefooted! Exactly like in this novel."
You'd catch a cold and you'd hurt your feet, he thought. Before he drove her personally to where she wanted to be. He watched her dance and take a picture of it, just because.
"Do you think I could drink rainwater in an emergency without boiling it first?"
That'd be risky, he thought. So he gives her a lecture on how to survive properly. She stayed and listen while sulking.
"I'm melting away... Why is it so hot today?"
Because you're wearing your favorite thick sweater, he thought. But he fanned her with a newspaper while she's tying her hair up into a bun.
"There's always room for dessert! I could eat a whole cake actually.., get me a pudding also!"
No, you couldn't, he thought. But he let her be and has to listen to her complaining because her stomach is too full.
"I'm so tired I don't have the appetite to eat."
I don't want you to get sick so you have to eat no matter what, he thought. But he waits for her until she asks for food. She eats the sandwich he made and she looks happy.
"I'm sorry for being useless..."
Why is she like this again? He thought. But he learned better so he gives her head pats and takes her out to eat something she likes.
"I want to visit every country in the world!"
That's impossible, he thought. But he finds himself saving his money. Not necessarily because she wants to travel across the world.
"Fugo, we're all gonna die."
That's true, he thought. But he's getting irritated by her claims.
"Don't you think you're wasting your time on me?"
I don't what to hear you say that ever again, he thought. But he assures her and would say the same hundreds of times. Why wouldn't he?
Why is he crying? She thought. I'm fine now.
"Why are you crying, Fugo? Look, I'm fine now."
"My heart stopped," Fugo mutters, "I thought I was having a cardiac arrest."
