"Can't we just cancel today's lesson, Fugo?"
You're lazily hanging around in the gazebo on your garden. Drinking tea, snacking cake, and enjoying the sunflowers on a warm Saturday noon. All by yourself is what you would like to be. But you have to stick with your servant. Where he is the only other person beside you on the mansion.
You're an illegitimate child of a nobleman. You didn't know who he is and refused to know at all. Your mother died when you were born so you live in the mansion with a maid. Just a month ago, the maid have to resign and the Lord sent you a servant instead. Why would he send a young male servant to attend her young daughter? He must be joking but it turns out pretty bad.
"I'm afraid not, young lady," The servant calmly responds, "We've been catching up pretty good with the lesson but that doesn't mean we can skip class."
A groans escaped your mouth. You can't say you hate Fugo. He's a nice servant, diligent, smart, can do almost anything you asks him. Yet he is very strict when it comes to learning. Though to be honest, he is a great teacher.
"Fine," You placed the empty cup. Standing up then made your way to the learning room. "Make sure to clean those things. I'll be going first."
Fugo bows a little behind you, right hand on his chest, "Yes, young lady." A thin smile shaping his lips.
Today's lesson was about the history and geography of the nation. Fugo will explain what he seems important to be highlighted in the book. The rest is up to your understanding and questions which are easy. You're not stupid if you were to say yourself. Having no one to teach and nothing to do only leading you to read more books.
"That will conclude our lesson for today," Fugo said proudly, "We even making progress more than I expected."
"Sure," You sighed, "I'll skip dinner tonight." Tiring from the intense debate you had earlier. Fugo acts as if nothing happened.
"I can't let you skipping meals more than three times in a week," Fugo placing the book back to the bookcase, "You have used all your chances I give you, young lady."
"You're too strict. Who are you trying to impress? My dad? He's not here."
Fugo shook his face slowly. "That's not it, young lady. It's for your own wellbeing. The Lord had ordered me to take care of you."
You glared back at him. His orbs don't waver, the tone of his voice was clear. "I don't care about him. This is my castle, you're well aware of that. While I'm here, you'll obey me." You eventually stood up, making sure to tell him from your expression that your decision is final. "I'm skipping dinner. Good night, Fugo."
The servant can't reply to that. The order has been made loud and clear. "Yes, young lady."
After a quick wash and change your dress to the sleepwear, you set yourself comfortable on the bed. The sun is still peeking from the window but, you're ready to sleep.
Ready to sleep, yet your mind won't compromise. It's been sixteen years since you live here. The same activities, same old ceiling, and hundreds of sleepless nights. Tonight is one of those nights where you had a contest with the ceiling. Who can sleep faster?
The answer is the ceiling. You, sadly, won again tonight. Being awake from sunset until sunrise is not a thing to be proud of, but you can snicker at the ceiling.
Did you just treat the ceiling as a living being? Yes, you did. Life is getting boring these days.
"Young lady, it's me." Fugo knocked on the door twice.
