--- --- --- ---

When Fugo used himself as a human shield to protect [y/n], the time seemed to play slow. He was ready to sacrifice himself as long as he can save her and she was ready to follow if he didn't make it. Their story could end in a bad nightmare.

Both of them survived in the end. None of them talk or see each other when Fugo is on the bed for almost a week. They are mad, frustrated, in regret, want to scream and hug each other. It's crazy how emotion can do much to people.

[y/n] enters the room with eyes flushed red and swollen lips. She sits on the chair without saying anything as Fugo keeps his eyes on her. He's not in great condition either. His body may be recovered but his heart still aches.

"How are you feeling?"

"Probably the same as you."

It gets quiet again. Their hands clenched, eyes squinted, refusing to look away from each other. The voice was hoarse and dry. How heartbreaking it is for they can feel each other's pain even without words.

"We need to talk, [y/n]."

"I know."

Seven months ago they were only strangers. Doubting each other, observing, distrust. They were two people with similarities. A person who stands alone.

"Why did you do that, Fugo? I- I never asked you to do such terrible things... Do you have any idea how hurt it is for me?"

"I can't help it. I can't bear to lose you."

"Do you think I can endure losing you?"

Fugo and [y/n] is like two in one, one in two. Both stand by logic, knowledge, and common sense. They question everything. No one can ever understand them. They were always far for others to understand. No one to share with, no one love. Just living and surviving.

They're a mirror of each other. So much alike they barely talk in the first one month. Looking at one other reminds them so much of themselves. Too painful to see, too bitter to admit.

"I can't apologize, can I?"

"If you didn't make it out alive.. if you just.. gone back then, I was ready to throw everything."

"We're so much alike. Even in that situation."

The time they spend together actually gets to them. They sit side by side, they're discussing the mission together, get sends into missions together, and live together. From formalities and small talk, both of them finally reach casualties. Something more meaningful and sensitive.

They grew on one another. The more time passes, the more they find life in each other. No longer disturbed by it. It's something to be cherished. No one can understand them but themselves. They got themself a friend to share.

People said opposite attracts. But the lost one also attracts another lost one. What they wanted was just someone who understands.

"Since when we ended up like this?"

"Probably longer than we remember."

A small chuckle slipped out of [y/n]'s lips. She's wiping away the tears on the corner of her eyes with the side of her palm. Fugo took her hand away and erased them himself. Forcing [y/n] to maintain eye contact.

Fugo treasure [y/n] more than anything.

[y/n] cherish Fugo above anything.

It's never been told. A small secret they kept for themselves even though everybody can see it. Whatever may happen. No need to tell it. No words needed. It's their precious feeling they can never describe. Raw emotions they never knew existed.

"Can I hold your hand?"

[y/n] nodding while holding back tears. Gently and softly, Fugo's holding her hands. He brushes his thumb over the back of her hand. A bit weird and tingly inside.

They never really touching each other before. High five, holding hand, caressing each other's face or hair, not even once. Hugging is even more unthinkable. Not that necessary. They're doing just fine without any of it.

"I think I like you. I like you so much it hurts."

"As if my heart would burst open anytime."

"I want you."

"And I will suffer without you."

"I bet none of us thinks it would end up like this."

"We thought everything would be fine and all we had was enough."

"It was never enough."

Fugo's pulling [y/n] closer in his arms. "This is what has been missing in our life. Don't you think so too? We both never know. Our first time something like this."

"Sounds really cheesy and very unlogical." [y/n]'s burying her face on his chest and hug him with hands grasping Fugo's shirt on the back. "What should I do? I just love you it's unbearable. I only know this now."

"I think you're very adorable. Do you think that's why I love you?"

"I don't know."

"You tell me."

"Very smart, Fugo. Very smart."

"Have you calm down?"

She was pulling away from a little from him, making spaces between to see his face. Her answer was a simple nod and Fugo smiled. He's cupping her face, brushing her cheeks with thumbs, and staring longingly.

"This is it? Have we finally understand each other? Do we agree to love each other?"

"Yes. Except you have something else to add."

"I have," she said, moving her arms around his neck. "Let's agree to not do anything reckless. Ever. Again."

"I can agree with that."

They had their forehead touching together. Closed eyes, breath in sync, arms around each other. Now they feel safe. Much lighter than a feather. Safer than any walls. Warmer than sweaters. They find peace in one another. No one can compete. No one can replace.

This is only the beginning of their story. Many things will happen in the future. There will be more pain and tears. The journey is still long. Even so, they will find their way. Everything will be okay. They just have to keep moving to see it.
