The next morning, I woke up to an empty bed. Remy must've woken up already.

I got up and started to go down the stairs when I heard my name being mentioned, causing me to stop.

"If Embry learns to control her mutation, Remy, she could easily get rid of Magneto's army, Victor, and Stryker."

"But she'll lose control, Jean. She can't handle the stress and pressure that comes with her mutation specifically."

"That's why she needs to learn to control it."

"Jean. Don't press it." Someone whispered.

"How long has she been hearing voices?" I recognized that as Logan.

"As long as I've known her. She's been hearing them again?"

"I dunno. She's talking to herself and basically screaming at nothing."

"Why does she hear voices?"

"It comes with her mutation, I think."

"It could be a mental disorder."

"Embry's not... She's not.. She's special, but not that way."

I finally had enough of listening. I continued to walk down the stairs, pretending to not hear any of them, and went out the front door.

The living room fell silent as I passed them. I heard someone get up and follow behind me.

"Emmy?" Remy called for me. I turned around to him and smiled slightly. "How long had you been hearin the voices again, amoureux?" He was just closing the door when he spoke.

"Since we left the school." I crossed my arms over my torso, self consciously.

"Why didn't you tell me before, amor?" {love in French} Remy cupped my face and brushed his calloused thumb over my soft cheek. "You haven't been tellin me things that I need to know. I can help you, but I need to know what's goin on in order to help."

"I know. It's just..." I trailed off, trying to think of how to word the next sentence. "You've been so focused on making sure I'm safe and away from everyone who wants me and its putting stress on you and I don't want that. If you get too much stress on yourself, then you'll crack like I do and if you crack, I'll freaking break all to hell. You're my rock. I'm trying to keep you safe too." I ended up leaning my forehead against his chest as I reached for his hand. His thumb gently ran over my knuckles when he kissed the top of my head.

"What are the voices saying, Em?"

"They're telling me to let everything go and lose it all. Remy. I need them to go away."

"You're so strong, Embry-Lynn." Remy murmured. "Talk with Kitty or Jean or even your new found boyfriend."

"Quit it." I blushed when Remy's tone turned to a teasing one.

"But I'm serious. It'll help you keep your mind off things."

"I'm gonna go for a walk around the mountain, is that okay?" I asked nervously.

"Of course." Remy kissed my forehead before he disappeared into the house.

I had been walking and walking for almost two hours. The voices were getting stronger and they were telling me that Logan was showing Victor the way to me. Others were saying to not let Logan in because everyone uses me. These stupid voices!

"Don't be alone for too long."

"He'll find you."

"No he won't." I mumbled, talking back to the voices. I knew I was just hearing them but if I didn't answer, they would get louder and louder. "Victor doesn't know where I am."
