I found myself in Remy's truck thirteen hours later with Logan and Remy.
I spoke with the Professor about going to see my family and he said he thought it would be a good thing for me to do.
I sat in the back seat, nervously picking at my nails.
"You sure you want us to go in with you, Embry-Lynn?" Remy asked, glancing back at me before returning his gaze to the road.
"Yeah. I told mom I was bringing a few friends." I nodded.
"Didn't tell her we were mutants though." Logan said.
"Doesn't matter if you are or not." I shrugged my shoulders, looking out of the window. Memories came back to me as we pulled on to the street I grew up on. "It's been years."
"How many since you last saw them?" Logan asked, looking back at me.
"Thirteen years." I whispered.
"Third house on the right, right?" Remy asked.
I nodded, unable to form words.
My breathed stopped as Remy pulled into the driveway of my old home.
It was a large two story tan house with a huge bay window in the living room and a big front porch.
My door opened and I almost fell out of the truck because I was leaning on the it.
"You sure you want to go through with this, Em?" Logan asked, holding his hand out for me.
"We're already here." I nodded, taking his hand and letting him pull me out.
Remy leaned against his truck, waiting for me. I nervously ran my fingers up and down my arm. Then I remembered the scars.
"They're going to see my scars, Remy." I said, my heart racing even more as I touched the mutilated skin.
"Here." Logan reached into the truck and pulled out my jacket. He helped me put it on.
"You're cute when you're nervous, Emmy." Remy chuckled a little. I gave him the middle finger, to which he stuck his tongue out.
Logan didn't put his arm around me but I wanted him to. So I took his hand and pulled it up and over my head so I could duck under his arm.
His arm rested along my shoulders.
Logan looked down at me with a chuckle. I gave him a half smile and then looked to the front door that was opening.
Remy was behind me and Logan, but I felt like I needed him right beside me.
Mom stepped out on to the porch first, followed by all four of my brothers and my sister. My dad was the last to exit my house. He stood with his arms crossed, eyes narrowed as he watched me.
"Embry-Lynn!" Mom cried, throwing her arms around me.
Logan let me go and took a few steps back to stand near Remy.
I didn't know what to do. I was engulfed by mom's arms.
My hands stayed by my sides in fists. I didn't want to hurt her. I would be mortified if I did.
"You've grown up so much." Mom cupped my face with her hand. Her green watery eyes met mine and she just cried even more. "Thirteen years since I've seen my baby."
"Mom." My voice cracked as tears blurred my vision. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, Embry." She kissed my forehead and then hugged me tightly again.
