There is a story about a Navajo grandfather who once told his grandson "There are two wolves living inside of each and every one of us. One is the bad wolf, full of greed and laziness, full of anger and jealousy and regret. The other is the good wolf, full of joy and compassion and willingness and a great love for the world. All the time, these two wolves are fighting inside of us." "But, grandfather," The boy said. "Which wolf will win?" The grandfather answered "The one you feed."

"How much would it be tonight, boys?" Remy asked the men sitting around the table he was at. I was in the Spark, Remy's favorite bar, watching him play a few rounds of poker with these rich men.

I took a sip of my cocktail and smiled slightly when Remy winked at me.

"How about one night with the pretty lady sitting next to you?" One of the men was watching me with a smirk that made me uncomfortable and made Remy lock his jaw.

The other men around the table laughed at the one but Remy was protective over me and didn't find the joke funny in any way.

"Unfortunately, my friend, she's my sister." Remy threw an energized playing card at the man, which threw him back into a wall.

The other men around the table jumped and whispered among each other as Remy went back to dealing the cards like nothing had happened.

"Remy. Be careful. You could hurt him." I put my hand on the inside of Remy's elbow, making him look over to me. "He was just joking."

"I'm just watching out for ya, babe." Remy gave me his charming smile before going back to the game of poker.

I leaned back in my chair and crossed my knees, putting the glass to my lips as I took another drink.

It made me feel special when Remy stood up for and protected me.

We weren't siblings by blood, meaning Remy didn't really have to be protective over me or even put up with me. But he did because our past was similar.

He had helped me escape Three Mile Island four years ago and we've been inseparable ever since.

"Rem? I'm gonna go to the bathroom, okay?" I spoke quietly to him as I stood up.

"Careful, amoureux. And give me your glass." Remy took my drink so I could go to the bathroom.

I made my way to the restrooms.

My stomach had this churning feeling that made me queasy.

I made sure no one else was in the bathroom with me before I leaned against the sink.

I closed my eyes and exhaled slowly.

"No. You have to stay inside." I whispered, speaking to myself, or more less my other side. I could feel the monster trying to break loose. I needed to work on my emotions.

Victor couldn't be near me. He was last in Rhode Island. He couldn't've made it to New Orleans in less than four days. Could he?

I felt the sink give way underneath me and I opened my eyes to see the corner of the sink had begun to disintegrate.

I quickly picked my hands up, running my fingers through my long hair. I had to calm down before going back to Remy.

I closed my eyes and did a few breathing exercises Remy had taught me.

This helped calm me down and I could feel my body temperature going back to normal.
