YEAR ENDS

“It seemed to be a lot of work here.” ani Frankie na papalapit na sa akin ngayon.

“Yes. Being assigned to the sound system is like being a mood setter. I should be able to set the mood, perfectly.” tugon ko.

Napangiti naman siya. Napansin kong tinabihan niya ako habang ang kaniyang mata ay nakatutok sa mga speakers at sa screen ng laptop na pinahiram ni Calvin. Biglaan kasi ang plano namin na mag-stay dito sa resort para sa pagsalubong sa bagong taon.

At this point, sinisigurado ko na lang na maayos na ang lahat ng music na patutugtugin mamaya. Nakaayos na ang pagkakasunod-sunod.

Adrian and Calvin were supervising everything. Meanwhile, Leonardo entertained everyone by singing them songs they request. Kanina kasi ay siya ang naka-assign sa food tasting. Siya ang may pinakamadaling gagawin.

Ang tanging nandito lang sa resort ay ang pamilya ni Adrian at ang mga kaibigan namin. Pinasara kasi ni Calvin ang buong resort eh.

Nang lumapit si Frankie sa akin ngayon lang, kakatapos niya lang halos sa pagdidisenyo ng kabuuan ng venue kasama ang ladies. She did a great job dahil siya halos ang lagi nilang tinatanong when it comes to designing. Siya halos ang umisip sa kung ano ang kalalabasan ng mga dekorasyon. Sobrang ganda ng mga gawa nila. I couldnʼt say anything more.

The party is starting now. At exactly 10 pm everything was on place.

I started playing some music. The performers started dancing in front of us. Imbis na matuon ang atensyon ko sa mga mananayaw, hindi ko alam pero napakawirdo dahil ang atensyon ko ay nakatuon lamang kay Frankie. I could see different colors reflected in her eyes from the colorful lights surrounding us.

Everytime the song stops, I play the next song from the queue and adjust a little from the volume.

I played up until the half of the queue. It was time for the Scottsdale brothers to show what they had been practicing for days.

“Here we go again, another drink Iʼm caving in
Stupid words keep falling from my mouth”

Leonardo started the verse with an incredible impact to us audiences. Bliss was chanting his name and she was the one who clapped for him first. Lahat kami ay pumalakpak nang nagsimula sila. Kasama na rito ang magulang nila.

And after the youngest Scottsdale, it was the eldest who came singing next.

“Oh, oh, one more drink and I should go
Oh, oh, but maybe she might like me though”

And Calvin was really good at singing too. He got improved a lot. He wasnʼt really much into singing but here he was singing at the top of his lungs.

“Oh, oh, I just canʼt think of what to say
Should I go, should I stay?
Just canʼt let her slip away”

It was Adrian who ended the verse and they all looked at each other like giving signals to go all out at the chorus.

“I talk a lot of shit when Iʼm drinking, baby
Iʼm known to go a little too fast
Donʼt mind all my friends, I know theyʼre all crazy
But theyʼre the only friends that I have”

Leonardo was passionate. Itʼs painted all over him. From his expressions to his hand movements and how he held the microphone was so professional. He was the singer among the siblings after all.
