10. HONORIFICS?

Yuna's POV

I held in my hands the most interesting book ever—an entire collection of incantations for practically anything. Magic, battle tactics, forbidden spells… I was completely engrossed in it. Everything about this training had been fascinating, except for one thing—the instructor.

Huening Kai.

He was strict, annoying, and had the nerve to interrupt my thoughts yesterday. But, as much as I hated to admit it, he was incredible. His combat skills, speed, and strategy were unmatched. I had initially assumed Edlynne would be the harder opponent due to her telekinesis, but Huening Kai’s agility and quick thinking gave him a serious advantage. It was like he could predict my every move, dodging my spells before I even cast them.

Why am I even thinking about this so much?

After what felt like an eternity training inside an illusion Bae had created—one so realistic it was unsettling—we finally got to take a break. Now, we were about to watch the Elementals in action.

It was Jiwoo and Jinni versus Jungwon and Sunghoon, and I was actually excited for this match. As the four of them prepared to battle, I caught Jinni whispering something to Sunghoon. Whatever she said must have rattled him because his entire stance shifted.

What was that about?

“Hi, unnie,” Kyujin greeted, walking over. She had just returned from getting her injuries healed by Sullyoon, who was easily the busiest among us all.

I still wasn’t used to them calling me unnie.

“Hey, Kyu. All healed up?” I asked.

“Yeah,” she nodded, standing beside me as we turned our attention back to the battle.

Jiwoo and Jinni were incredible. I had expected them to be strong, but watching them fight was something else entirely. Their ability to transform into their elements was both mesmerizing and terrifying. One second, Jiwoo was standing on the battlefield, and the next, she was a surge of water, appearing out of nowhere. Jinni, on the other hand, was a literal flare, flickering between solid and flame form.

Jiwoo managed to trap Jungwon in a sphere of water, while Jinni encircled Sunghoon in a ring of fire. It looked like they had won—until Jungwon somehow used plants to bind Jiwoo, breaking her concentration and freeing himself. Meanwhile, Sunghoon, completely unfazed by the fire, easily walked through it. Jinni threw flare after flare at him, but he froze them effortlessly.

Then, she disappeared—her body dissolving into flames—only to reappear behind Sunghoon, wielding a flaming sword. His startled reaction made it clear he hadn’t expected that.

A battle between fire and ice.

It was exhilarating to watch.

“Guys, that’s enough! You might actually kill each other,” Huening Kai yelled.

He wasn’t wrong. Jiwoo and Jungwon had somehow taken their fight to the sky, Jiwoo standing on a floating sphere of water while Jungwon balanced on a platform of rocks. Meanwhile, Jinni and Sunghoon’s clash was growing dangerously intense.
