13. TALKS AND DREAMS

Sullyoon's POV

After our unproductive, makeshift meeting—where we barely planned anything because all of us were too exhausted to think—Jinni and I decided it was time to confront Yuna about the Huening Kai situation.

She had just stepped out of the bathroom after taking a shower, and as awkward as it seemed, the two of us straightforwardly cornered her the moment she entered the room.

(A/N: What the hell did I just write?)

“Yuna? What happened between you and Kai?” Jinni asked, cutting straight to the point.

Yuna blinked. “What do you mean?” She’s acting dumb.

“The glares. The arguments,” I clarified.

“Yeah, I hate to say it, but you were acting kinda bitchy,” Jinni added bluntly.

I shot her a “girl, do you want to die?” look, but she only shrugged. Yuna, on the other hand, looked like she was trying to compose herself.

“Yeah… I get it,” she admitted. “I was being bitchy. But Kai’s just been getting on my nerves ever since we got here. I’m already anxious and scared, so maybe I’m overreacting, but he keeps bothering me when I want to be alone. And during practice, he targeted me more than anyone else.”

“Oh—” I started, but Yuna wasn’t finished.

“And the ‘constructive criticism’—a.k.a. insults—got to my head,” she continued, frustration laced in her voice. “It was embarrassing. I know he’s more experienced, but would it kill him to be a little more considerate?”

She let out a deep sigh, and after a moment of silence, her expression softened. “I’m sorry. You guys probably didn’t want to hear all that.”

“Nah, it’s fine,” Jinni said, waving it off. “Everyone needs to rant sometimes.”

“Yeah,” I agreed. “Besides, I know you’ll listen to us when we need to vent too.”

Yuna nodded, a small but worried smile on her face. “Like what you told Bae—we’ll stick together.”

“Especially since we’re practically walking to our deaths tomorrow,” Jinni added.

“Girl, you’re such a Debbie-downer,” Yuna groaned, finally cracking a laugh.

“Hey, at least I’m making you guys laugh,” Jinni defended.

“Yeah, yeah,” I said, shaking my head. “Let’s just go to bed.”

“Okay,” Yuna agreed, crawling into bed.

“Good night and sweet dreams,” Jinni said, already getting comfortable.

“Good night,” Yuna echoed.

“Good night. Don’t let the bed bugs bite,” I added.

Yuna immediately bolted upright. “There are bed bugs?!” she half-shouted, scrambling out of bed.
