Chapter 28

He wakes up to the sun streaming into his eyes. His head is lying on his arm, and he can feel a cold breeze hitting is skin. Opening his eyes, he sees trees, grass and foliage, bringing a smile to his face. Something hits his body...clothes. Turning his head to look behind him he sees his brother standing behind him, looking highly unimpressed.

"You've been busy." Elijah states.

"That was amazing. How long has it been?" Klaus asks as he sits up from the ground.

"Almost 2 days. Full moon came and went. You remained a wolf." Elijah informs.

Klaus stands up, making his brother turn away from him to give some semblance of privacy as he gets dressed.

"I can change at will, then. It's good to know. I remember every single kill." Klaus declares, a smile across his face.

"Yes. I've been cleaning up your little mess along the way." Elijah says, sounding annoyed.

"Just like old times brother." Klaus jokes as he puts his shirt on.

"You've had your fun. I believe we have a bargain." Elijah puts him back on task.

"That's right. Now, what was it again? oh, yeah. wait. I remember. That's it. You wish to be reunited with our family." Klaus taunts.

"You gave me your word, Niklaus." Elijah reminds causing Klaus to roll his eyes.

"What kind of brother would break his bond? Even though you did try to kill me." Klaus points out.

"I could have. But I didn't" Elijah states having decided that he could turn around now.

"And now no one can, not even you." Klaus watches as his brother tenses...good. "Relax Elijah. All is forgiven."

"Where are they?" Elijah inquires.

"You need to lighten up. I'll bring you to them soon enough and then I'll get our soulmate and we can all leave this boring little town." Klaus explains.

"And what if she doesn't want to leave?" Elijah asks.

"We're her matched, Elijah. Of course, she will want to come with us." Klaus brushes off Elijah's concern.

"Even after you tried to kill her sister and did kill her friend? I would be surprised if she didn't try to set us on fire the moment, she saw us." Elijah tells his brother.

"Don't worry about it, Elijah, I have a plan." Klaus informs.

"That fills me with nothing but dread." Elijah states before following Klaus as he starts walking his way out of the woods.

Chelsea is walking with Caroline towards, Jeremy and Elena. They are at the town square for a movie watching event. Honestly, she doesn't want to be here, she doesn't think Jeremy and Elena will want her to be here. Her soulmate killed Jenna and the other one betrayed them. Chelsea knew he was a liar; she doesn't know why she put her trust in him.

However, Caroline had convinced her that she should come. That the best way for her to know that Jeremy and Elena didn't blame her was if she saw them and interacted with them. Chelsea had this feeling that she was just setting herself up for pain. But it's not like she has the ability to say no to Caroline when she has her mind made up on something.

"Hey! There you guys are. Who's hungry?" Caroline asks as she places down a large basket that was absolutely brimming with food.

"Are we really doing this?" Jeremy asks.

"Yes, we are really doing this. We are going to take a page from Scarlett. We made it through the war." Caroline answers, whilst beaming positivity. It felt slightly suffocating. "I know you guys went through hell, and my mom knows I'm a vampire, so basically, it's like Atlanta has burned. And yet, in spite of everything, we persevere."
