Chapter 38

Chelsea is in the Mystic Falls hospital with Caroline. They are there to check out her father who came back to town the day before. Tyler had called him asking for help to get rid of his sire bond and Caroline's father ended up getting attacked by Tyler while he was in his werewolf form. Anyway, Caroline begged for her to come with.

She would have come with Caroline anyway, for moral support but ever since Chelsea admitted to being linked with Klaus, Bonnie has been dodging her. At first Chelsea thought that her sister felt guilty for being part of the plan to get Klaus killed but now she isn't so sure. Bonnie disappeared for most of the day yesterday and Cheslea couldn't get in contact with her and then when she woke up this morning Bonnie was already gone.

Part of Chelsea wonders if maybe Caroline is using the whole 'moral support' line as a way to keep her distracted from whatever her sister is up to, but Caroline is a terrible liar and would have likely given it away by now. Which makes Chelsea feel bad, she should trust Caroline but...if she can't trust her own sister then how is she supposed to trust anyone else?

"Are you Caroline?" Meredith, Caroline's father's doctor asks.

"Yes. Dr Fell, hi! Elena told me you helped out my dad." Caroline smiles at the doctor.

"I did. Do you think you can get him to be a little more grateful? He spent half the night threatening to get my medical licence revoked for saving his life." Meredith huffs.

"Yeah, my dad's a little set in his ways. He spent his whole life hating vampires, so..." Caroline shrugs.

"So...he's not psyched about it being vampire blood that healed him. Yeah, he made that clear. I'm sorry. My bedside manner sucks, on no sleep." Meredith laughs dryly.

"Can she take him home?" Chelsea asks to get them away from this awkward conversation.

"I signed his discharge papers late last night, just to shut him up." Meredith informs.

"Oh, I...he didn't call or anything." Caroline huffs an upset laugh.

Chelsea places her hand on Caroline's shoulder to comfort the blond.

"That's gotta be hard. When your dad hates the one thing you can't change about yourself. I make it my business, to know who the vampires are in this town. Medical curiosity. I don't blab." Meredith explains.

"They've had their ups and downs." Chelsea says when it's clear that Caroline has no idea what to say to that.

"Tell your dad I said, 'you're welcome'." Meredith says before walking off.

"Thanks." Caroline calls out before turning to look at something down the hall.

Chelsea follows her line of sight and sighs...hard.

"Why is she here again?" Chelsea mutters.

"She wanted to be supportive." Caroline informs.

"She wanted to seem supportive so that she can prove that she isn't a selfish hypocritical bitch." Chelsea retorts.

Caroline smacks her arm before they stand in front of the brunette.

"That was fast." Elena smiles.

"Yeah, he's not here. He was already discharged. And she seems perfectly nice by the way...a little intense, maybe. But...I think it's sweet, you wanna make sure Alaric's not dating a total psycho." Caroline states.

"Yeah, totally not weird that an eighteen-year-old is keeping track of her thirty something, history teachers' relationship." Chelsea adds on.

Elena doesn't even look at her, whilst Caroline pulls out her phone and presumably starts calling her father.
