After Grams death, Chelsea and Bonnie were distraught. Their father knowing this decided to send his girls away to live with his sister for several weeks, in order to give them space to grieve.
When Chelsea first heard of her father's plan, she was angry. She didn't want to leave Mystic Falls after the funeral she wanted to stay but after spending the first week with her aunt she could understand why her father made his decision.
If they had stayed in Mystic Falls, they would have been surrounded by the memories of Grams and everything that she had done for them. And in her overly emotional state that she was in...she has a feeling that she would have broken apart at the seams.
Plus, it meant that she didn't have to deal with Elena, Stefan or Damon who she partially blamed for Gram's death. She knew that she blaming others wasn't healthy, but it meant that she didn't blame who she really wanted to...herself, Bonnie and Grams.
She only admitted to those feelings once, when she was on the phone to Caroline, who didn't understand as she knew nothing about what had been happening but was a good friend anyway and allowed Chelsea to realise her emotions.
Unfortunately, Chelsea and Bonnie were only allowed so many weeks of off school to grieve and they had to come back home. Chelsea knew that she wasn't ready, and neither was Bonnie, but life wasn't fair. So, they had to suck it up, pull themselves back together again and go to class.
Which was how she found herself being rushed to class by Bonnie as they were going to be late.
"Sorry I'm late." Bonnie apologises when she enters the classroom first.
"The car wouldn't start." Chelsea explains.
"Well, it looks like we will be at full occupancy today. Welcome home, Bonnie, Chelsea." Alaric greets before turning back to the board.
Chelsea moves to her seat in the back of the class and sits down before staring forward.
In front of her seat was Stefan. Chelsea looked down at the table in front of her and took a deep breath.
Just ignore him, Chelsea. It wasn't his fault. It wasn't his fault. It wasn't...but if it wasn't his fault then who's was it.
After all, if Stefan hadn't run into the tomb to save Elena, then Grams wouldn't have died. And if Elena hadn't been in trouble again then Stefan wouldn't have run in and then if Bonnie hadn't...no stop blaming people.
Taking another deep breath Chelsea gets out her book and starts writing notes as she follows along and ignores those around her, making her unaware of the looks Elena and Stefan were swapping as the two Bennett's refused to look at them.

Chelsea and Bonnie were walking along with papers in their hands.
"I can't believe we miss a couple of weeks of school, and we have this much catch up work. I hope this doesn't fuck up my GPA." Chelsea mutters angrily under her breath.
"Bonnie! Chelsea!" The girls hear their names being yelled causing them to turn around and come face to face with Elena.
"Hey." Bonnie greets.
"Hey, I tried to grab you both after class, but you had already taken off. How are you both? How's your family?" Elena questions.
"We're dealing, it's been hard." Bonnie tells Elena.
"Everyone here really missed you." Elena says.
"Yeah, I just had so much to deal with after Gram's funeral and, honestly after you told me the tomb spell failed, we just didn't really want to come back." Bonnie explains.
