Chapter 7

That night Elena told them all about Stefan and Damon being vampires and everything that has gone on since then.

She made them promise not to tell Caroline and although Chelsea agreed she knew she wouldn't be keeping it. She needs to keep her best friend safe and to do that she needed to know what was happening around her.

That was how Chelsea found herself at Caroline's house waiting for her to open the door.

"Hey, what's up?" Caroline asked when she opened the door. Chelsea tried to enter but Caroline had her body blocking the doorway causing Chelsea to become suspicious.

"Do you have someone in there with you?" Chelsea inquires as she tries to look past Caroline's shoulder.

"Nope." Caroline lied. "Why are you here so early in the morning?"

Chelsea wanted to tell Caroline about the vampire update as soon as possible so the first chance she got to get away from Bonnie, she took it. Bonnie thinks that she is going to get some more paint before school starts.

"I wanted to see how you were after last night and give you an update on what actually happened last night." Chelsea tells Caroline.

"Right...you see...here's the thing...last night really freaked me out and if I'm being honest with myself, I don't want to know any more about any of it. It really scared me thinking something horrible had happened to Bonnie and, I just...I just can't. so please don't tell me any more about the witch stuff. I don't want nor care to know more." Caroline admits, a slight tremor in her voice that showed just how much last night affected her.

"Okay...okay Caroline. I get it. Last night was...an experience." Chelsea states.

"You can say that again." Caroline chuckles dryly.

"I guess I should be off then. I told Bonnie I was going into town to get more paint, so I really need to do that."

"Right, bye Chels." Caroline says bringing her into a hug that causes her to see a head of blond hair hiding in Caroline's room.

"Bye Care. Bye Matt!" Chelsea calls out.

Caroline's face turns red and Matt pops his head out from Caroline's room.

"Bye Chelsea." Matt replies.

Chelsea is walking down the school hallway with Elena and Bonnie; Caroline and Matt are at the other end of the hallway talking and laughing with each other.

"Did I miss something?" Elena asks when she spots Caroline and Matt together.

"They've been hanging out." Bonnie informs.

"He's been spending the night." Chelsea states, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Kind of weird, don't you think?" Elena asks, disgruntled.

"Careful Elena, your sounding kind of jealous." Chelsea teases.

"She needs someone nice like him, as opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon." Bonnie says.

"Yeah, how are you both doing with all that?" Elena asks the twins.

"Could be worse...they could sparkle." Chelsea jokes so she doesn't have to verbalise just how scared the whole thing made her.

Elena and Bonnie roll their eyes at her response.

"I'm freaked out. Damon attacked me. I could be dead right now. But I'm also grateful." Bonnie explains.

"Hmm?" Elena and Chelsea both make a confused noise.

"To Stefan. He saved my life and...have you seen him?" Bonnie asks carefully.
