After a while they finished the spears, Ruby looking over and watching the waves crash against the rocks.

JJ hugged her from behind, gently kissing the top of her head, " you up for it..? I know your shoulder is still stiff.." he said and she nodded, " consider this my psychical therapy." She teased and leaned back against him.

He watched her engagement ring sparkle from the sunlight, eventually John B had found out, he wasn't happy at first but he's slowly been learning to accept it.

But after a while he mainly began to focus on Sage, she hasn't been doing too well lately, always having a sense of paranoia.

So John B would stay with her, mostly having the job of gathering firewood while Sage worked on different crafts, leaving everyone else to do the rest of the work.

And today, JJ and Ruby were on hunting duty while Pope and Cleo worked to find more fruit, Sarah and Kiara didn't really do much to help.

But other than that it was calm, everyone falling into their routine, sometimes conversation wasn't even needed.

And that led us to now, JJ and Ruby walking along the beach, spears in hand.

" god I could literally kill for some chicken tenders right now" Ruby said, looking up at JJ with a pout, but JJ just laughed, throwing his arm around her and tugging her against his side as they walked.

" just picture fish as chicken" he joked and she scrunched her nose in distaste, " no thank you" she said with a small laugh.

He looked down at her as they walked, loving how tiny she was compared to him, her shadow almost invisible next to his.

But Ruby didn't mind it, it just gave her an excuse to literally jump into his arms, plus she loved the way his body could fully cage hers, making her feel protected.

They made their way into the water, Ruby licking her lips as she looked at JJ's shirtless form, barely even hearing the instructions he was giving her.

That was until he grasped her jaw in his thumb and pointer fingers, gently forcing her chin up so she was looking at him, laughing at the way her cheeks turned red.

" my eyes are up here." He teased, ruffling her hair a bit, " it's not my fault you're distracting!" She whined, her lips forming into a pout.

He just shook his head with a laugh and wrapped his arm around her waist.

He couldn't imagine anything better than this.
