Chapter Nineteen

The next morning they woke up and the place was still a mess.. But there wasn't anything they could do about it right now.

Ruby popped open one of the floorboards, finding the stash of money she'd hidden there and began to count it- it was enough for the mortgage payment.

So Ruby put the money in her purse- but they couldn't go to the bank looking like this, they were filthy.

They both agreed on finding a hotel to stay at for a couple days, this way they were guaranteed a place to stay until they got this figured out.

So that's exactly what they did, they used the money they had to rent the hotel room for a week, they figured it would be enough time.

Once inside they both practically ran into the bathroom, both eager to feel the hot water on their skin.

*One Month ago*

Ruby was digging through her backpack, grinning as she found some travel body wash as well as shampoo and conditioner.

JJ watched her in curiosity, following her out to where their spot was, it was right next to a hidden waterfall.

She stripped her clothes and went into the water, going under and wetting her hair- JJ however was frozen, she was breathtaking to him.

It was like time stood still, he was captivated by her doing something as simple as washing her hair.

JJ's cheeks turned red, he couldn't believe how hooked she had him, if she asked he'd be down on his knees in a heartbeat, he always wanted to make her happy.

Ruby beckoned him into the water with a soft smile, he knew he was a goner and felt his insides warm at the sight of her smile.

She had him wrapped around her finger.

*Now*

JJ and Ruby stood in the shower, wrapped up in each others warm embrace as the hot water rained down on them.

There were no other intentions, there was nothing sexual about it. The two were just enjoying the feeling of being together.

This wasn't what either of them had expected to come back to, no one ever expects to end up homeless in the blink of an eye.

Ruby held JJ close and left kisses anywhere she could reach on him, closing her eyes.

Things were a mess but they would get through this.
