''This is it...no more going back.'' You say to yourself realizing that from now on no one would be there to help you. You had just found a free seat on the train and now looking down at your family from the dirty glass window you understand that you had started your so-called 'Big girl's life'. ''This is good? Right?'' Despite always wanting to live on your own you still had your doubts, you were scared that something bad might happen especially now that you would be completely alone without anyone to call for help.
The train slightly wobbled as it started to drive making you a little noshes, but you still keep a wide smile on for your family who were now waving in your direction as a final goodbye. ''Your baby has left the nest...'' You quietly whisper under your noose referring to your mother who had babied you for most of your life creating an unhealthy attachment to you which you finally broke.
No one in your family was too pleased about you moving so far away from home, especially your mother. When she heard the news, that you were planning on leaving at first she burst out laughing thinking it was a joke, but not long after was already in tears almost begging you to stay. Your mother was in such disbelief at first because when she was raising you she had made you like her own little puppet, she basically controlled everything you did, in the end, making you very deliberate. But as you got older you started understanding that what your mother was doing was bad, so one of the biggest reasons why you decided to move away was just to get away from your mother.
At first, you didn't know where you wanted to move to, you weren't quite sure if you wanted to be closer to home or further so the first spontaneous thing you did was pull out a map, close your eyes, and point to a random place with your finger, and the city you would land on would be the place you would go to. In the end, your finger chose Jericho as your final destination a city you had never heard of, but when looking it up on Google you saw that it was a pretty quiet little town that would suit you perfectly.
Despite the queasy feeling in your stomach, you couldn't be more excited. To know that from now on you could do whatever you wanted, was just a dream come true. ''Finally...'' The upsetting feeling almost instantly disappeared as soon as the train drove out of the city which used to hold you back for so many years from exploring the world, but not anymore. It felt like restraints had been removed from your hands and now you could do whatever your heart desired even if you still were on a train.
Knowing that this trip would last for several hours you got a little more comfortable in your seat appreciating the fact that no one was sitting beside you. You put on your headphones blasting your favorite playlist at the fullest volume while watching the passing landscapes already being able to get a taste of freedom just by being on this train. You had planned many activities for yourself to make the time pass faster like reading a book, playing some games on your phone, or doing some more research on Jericho but at the moment you didn't need any of that because just looking out through the foggy window the time flew by quickly.
After an hour of just looking outside, you finally lost interest in the beautiful landscapes that started merging into one, so you pull out your computer from the bag and start doing some deeper digging about Jericho. ''The city is truly something else...'' From the pictures you saw online, you could tell that you would enjoy living there. The apartment you rented was just a 10-minute bus ride from the station, so you already checked the bus schedule so you know when and where you needed to board the bus.
''Maybe I will finally find someone...'' You floated off to a different fantasy world imagining the perfect life with you and your girlfriend. All of your life you had known you liked girls, but because of being your mom's puppet, you had never gotten the courage to come out to her so all of your past relationships have only been with guys, so you couldn't say you have ever been in love. In your school, you used to be considered a cold and evil heartbreaker, because you would break things off whenever the guy wanted more than kisses and snuggles.
While thinking about your future love life you accidentally fell asleep only to be awoken by the train coming to a sharp stop. You look out of the window to see that you had arrived in Jericho, the moment you had been waiting for your whole life. So you quickly gather all of your stuff and board the train immediately taking in a deep breath, filling your lung with the foreign air.
''Let the new life begin...''
