''I can't die...'' You thought to yourself as the sound was coming closer and closer with every passing second. Your eyes were closed, you didn't want to face your fate whatever it might be, and if you were about to die then the last thing you hoped to see was Larissa's face which you were only able to achieve by imagining her in your head. ''Why did I have to come here.'' You were in a cold sweat shaking from fear as the thing, the killer or the monster was just feet away from you.
You wanted to run away, to try to at least make it, but you were completely frozen, your body was stiff and your feet felt too heavy to move, so you kept sitting on the mossy ground unprepared for the worst. Even tho the noise wasn't scary or loud you still didn't want to hear the thing coming, so you got all of your strength and placed your hands over your ears. You started humming a random melody to block out the background noise, it wasn't the first time you had done this to calm yourself. Whenever you were little you did this when someone was yelling or things got too overwhelming for you, this was the only way you could block out reality and be in your own little bubble, just like now...pretending that everything was fine.
You weren't aware of your surroundings, what was happening, or how close the sound was, all you heard was your own humming, when suddenly you felt a warm and wet feeling appear on your neck which made you jump. It wasn't pain so you got all of your courage to open up your eyes and when you did you saw a big dog press his wet nose on your skin. Immediately you felt relieved to know that it was just a dog and not anything more dangerous.
''Hey doggy, hi...'' You started petting it, running your fingers through its thick fur. ''From where did you come from?'' The dog seemed happy to be here with you, it was licking your face and wagging its tail as if you were its owner. ''You can maybe sit with me for a while while I figure out what to do.'' You jokingly said knowing if that dog stayed with you, you would immediately feel more relaxed because now your heart was still racing and your body was still shaking because the danger still might be lurking around somewhere. And as soon as you suggested for the dog to sit it sat down. ''Huh...interesting, I guess you're trained. Smart doggy aren't you?'' You lightly patted it on its head as it placed its chin on one of your legs.
For a few minutes you didn't say anything, you wanted to believe that your friends would come back for you and that maybe the dog belonged to one of them. But after a while, you understood that no one was coming back, so you again started talking to the dog, who was already laying on the ground with its head resting on your thigh. ''I really don't like being in woods at night...'' You just from moment's notice decided to try to get back on your feet and try to find a way out of these woods because with every passing second your nerves started to crumble and you didn't know how far you were from a complete mental breakdown.
So you slowly picked yourself up still feeling a lot of pain in your ankle, and looked down at the dog who had stood up now as well. ''I will look for a way out, maybe you wanna join me.'' You couldn't believe that you were talking to a dog as if it was a human. ''Okay...from where did I come from...'' You looked around the are only seeing the exact same image on all of the sides, and you knew you were screwed, but then you feel the dog dig its nose in your legs. ''Hey! What's the matter with you?'' You asked almost in a half voice, but the dog, obviously being a dog didn't listen to you, but instead started going somewhere.
''Maybe it is going home...to real people...'' You had a thought in mind that the dog had a home because it responded to your so-called command as if it had been trained, so you decided to follow it. Because of your ankle, you were limping barely able to walk, but you pushed forward and kept going. You continued following the dog for roughly 20 minutes when suddenly you saw the edge of the woods and street lamps. ''Oh my God! You're a smart dog!'' The dog had led you back on a road, but it wasn't much better from the woods, because it was in the middle of nowhere with Jericho not in sight.
