After almost a week of waiting since Larissa had canceled on you, she finally reached back to you. This time she made sure to set the date on a weekend when nothing would bother her because officially she didn't need to do anything related to work if she didn't want to. So you eagerly waited for the weekend to approach faster.

And as on any other regular work day, you woke up, got ready, made your daily trip to Weathervane, and had a little chat with Tyler before heading to work. Your life was starting to become not as exciting as it used to be, because everything you did repeated, you only had a few people you talked to in this city, and the only thing that kept you from losing your mind completely was meeting up with Larissa Weems. Right now she had become your first priority because if you were in her shoes you would want that letter back.

You got to work as usual and started doing all the little things you usually did, like stacking books, tidying up, and helping customers. Even tho it was the same thing that you had to do over and over again you surprisingly didn't get bored of your job. You enjoyed sweeping the floors and doing random things around the shop because in some way it helped you stay connected to reality.

When the work day was almost over for you and you were already starting to get ready to leave Margreth came to tell you something. ''Y/n...I hate to ask, but could you take an extra shift on Saturday? I know you don't prefer working on the weekends, but Sophie won't be able to make it on Sunday.'' Sophie is Marghreths daughter who usually works on the weekends just to earn some money because she herself was still studying at school. ''I would usually then come down and take over for Sophie but I won't be in town then either.'' And because you were a kind soul you couldn't just say no. ''Yes, no problem I can fill in for her.'' You genuinely didn't think much about it, yes you indeed didn't like working on the weekends, but if it was necessary you didn't decline.

It was only when you got home that you realized what you had signed up for at a moment's notice. You had to work on Saturday which wasn't the bad part, the thing that got you thinking was the fact that you were supposed to meet Larissa Weems that day. It had completely slipped out of your mind, because all you were thinking about when you agreed to take an extra shift was to not disappoint Margie, almost in a people-pleasing way.

This left you completely disoriented and made you go off your tracks. You didn't know what to do, you couldn't inform Margie that you had suddenly changed your mind because you had already agreed on working on Saturday and there was nothing to change that fact, but you didn't want to be now the one who canceled on Larissa Weems eather. You tried to brush the thought off and continue living your ordinal life in hopes of eventually coming to a conclusion, but this thought never left your mind and wouldn't leave until you made some kind of decision.

And in the end, you figured that you had to cancel on Larissa because there wasn't any other conclusion anyways. You immediately felt bad that you were the one now ruining plans and for a good while you still tried to come up with a different conclusion.

So you picked up your phone to ring up Larissa feeling embarrassed and ashamed that you would rather text her than make this phone call. But you called her anyways because you realized that Larissa Weems called you to inform you about the plan change, and she was embarrassed on a somewhat level as well.

The phone rang for a few seconds before you heard the sweet voice way across on the other line.

"Hello, Y/n." She greeted you formally, you had never in your life talked to a person who said your name whenever you called them.

"Hi...sorry for bothering you, but I just wanted to let you know that now I won't be able to make it on Saturday." You felt awkward, everything in your body was shaking a little.

"Oh, well...why not? There must be a good reason because it is Sunday." She said already curious about your reasoning.

"It is nothing good, I just have to take an extra shift at work that day."

"Oh really? And where do you work? If I can ask?" It was an easy feeling to hear that in her voice she wasn't mad or disappointed in you so suddenly canceling.

"It is fine, you can ask everything! But I work at a small bookstore, sell books and that stuff, you know how." You stupidly laugh because there was no reason for you to explain to her what you do there specifically.

''Oh, all right.'' She said and before she could say anything else you just had to start apologizing or else this would start weighing on your heart.

''I am really sorry! It is a stupid reason to cancel. I wish I could arrange things differently, but when I agreed it didn't really pop into my mind.'' Before you could finish explaining yourself, she cut you off.

''Don't worry! No need to worry about such a little thing. You can worry like this when it is going to be the end of the world.'' She chuckled easing the situation, so you nervously chuckled alongside her.

''Ok alright...'' You let out a little sigh not knowing what else to say.

''So...perhaps you have another day you can suggest and then I can try to mold it to my schedule.'' She said as you were starting to think about your free time when you realized that this should be done differently.

''I, I...It is more up to you than me because I have a more flexible schedule.'' You even bit your lip a little from the still noticeably high nervousness that was only coming from you and not from Larissa.

''Well...there is the problem, I do not know when I will have time to meet up with you, at least not yet.''

''What about after work?'' You asked thinking it was a good idea that you should have thought about earlier.

''I don't have a specific time when my work day ends, sometimes I can get home by 6 but sometimes even after 10.'' It sounded like she didn't like going home so late.

''Really? Is it that bad?'' You couldn't possibly imagine someone nearly having time for themselves.

''It is not the best the best thing in the world...at least I'm glad that you have it better...'' Moments passed before she spoke again sounding like she just remembered something, ''Oh...I just realized that I made it sound like I don't have a life outside Nevermore, so don't think I work 24/7 and never sleep. It is just that if I do have that free time, I most likely want to use it for myself, I hope you understand.'' Larisa said now giving you a clearer picture of her life.

''Yea, totally...I get it. Self-care is more important than a letter. If it is not super important I can give it back whenever.'' You didn't want this woman to start thinking that you wanted to get rid of this letter as soon as possible and forget that this even happened.

''I appreciate your understanding, but what are you saying exactly...that I should just reach out to you...'' She wasn't quite sure what to say next.

''Whenever.'' You finished her sentence.

''Even if I call you the same day when we could meet?'' She asked curiously.

''Yup! No problem!''

''Even 10 minutes before?'' Now it seemed like she was just teasing you at this point, probably wanting to know what would be the dealbreaker for you.

Oh please! Even when you come knocking on my door, I would be ready!'' You chuckled knowing that would never happen.

''All right then. I will take notice of that.'' She replied sounding dead serious as if she would eventually show up at your doorstep.

For a few more minutes, Larissa kept teasing you about her actually showing up at your house, but eventually, you ended the call because you had to go do something around the house. The one thing you absolutely loved about the little phone calls was that always when you were about to hang up, Larissa would wish you a good day in the sweetest way possible.

Authors note:

I'm sorry for making you wait so long for the moment when they would meet, I just want to build a little bit of tension.
