Zoe's POV

"Push! You're doing great!" Various people muffled through hospital masks. I sat up and held my breath as I pushed again, feeling the baby move a little more. Oh god this is the most excruciating pain of all time! I laid back and took deep breaths.

"Good job, baby. You're doing wonderful." Michael said through his hospital mask as he clutched my hand. He stood on my right, and my sister stood on my left holding that hand. Good to see these two could put their differences aside for a while.

"Alright, Zoe. We need one more push, okay? Just one more big push and then we're done." Dr. Harding encouraged me.

I took one last deep breath before inhaling and sitting up again, pushing with all of my might. Words of encouragement floated across the room

"That's it, baby!" from Michael.

"You got it, Sis! Here she comes!" from Lola.

"Okay and.... We got her!" Dr. Harding called and the room fell silent as a piercing cry filled the air. "Congratulations on your baby girl."

A nurse laid a blanket down on my chest and the baby was immediately laid right on top of me... Oh my god... She's beautiful. Her bright eyes, her smooth skin, her curly jet black hair. She has Jackson written all over her. She's so gorgeous. I was so focused on her beauty that I barely even felt the doctors stitching me up.

I cried even harder than my newborn as she clutched onto my pinky. I looked up at Michael who had pulled his mask down and was grinning from ear to ear with tears in his eyes.

"Hi, pretty girl... Hi, baby... You look just like Daddy." I spoke to her softly.

"Oh, Zoe, look how much hair she has!" Lola giggled.

"Would you like to cut the umbilical cord, Dad?" A nurse asked.

He smiled wide. "Of course."

She handed him the slightly curved scissors and placed a clamp on the umbilical cord. He brought the scissors to her and cut the cord quickly.

"Good job, Daddy." I chuckled, patting his arm.

"Let's get her cleaned up." A nurse suggested, picking her up and taking her over to what looked like a small changing table.

Michael leaned down and kissed my forehead. "She's beautiful." He beamed. "I've never seen a little girl so beautiful."

"I'm so proud of you, hermana." Lola grinned.

I grabbed her hand and kissed it. "Thank you for filling in for Mom."

"Of course. No one else can properly fill her shoes." She giggled.

I heard a bit of anxiety coming from across the room and I looked over to where the baby was. 3 nurses were surrounding her and one of them suddenly scurried out of the room.

"What's wrong?" I asked them, immediately panicking. "My baby... Is she okay?"

They failed to answer me as Dr. Harding rushed into the room and over to the baby.

"Doc..." I called to him. He had his back turned to me and he was checking something on the baby but I couldn't tell exactly what he was doing. I looked up at Michael and the concern in his eyes matched mine.

"Take her downstairs. Now." Dr. Harding ordered, and the nurses rolled the cart the baby laid on toward the door.

"Where are they taking her?" I questioned. "Doc! What's going on?"

He took a deep breath and walked over to us. "Her body temperature is much too low... We'll have to keep her in an incubator until she stabilizes on her own." He explained.
