Neverland Ranch

Zoe's POV

I sat in silence, laying down on the bed and staring up at the pages of a book but not really reading them. Every time I try to focus I get distracted by my own thoughts. I can't stop thinking about the fact that I'm a grown ass woman whose husband has her on lockdown. And when I say lockdown, I'm not exaggerating. Every time I step foot outside of the house Michael is the first to know about it.

At first I thought he just didn't want me to travel. But when security refused to let me leave the ranch to go have lunch with my mother, I knew that Michael had officially lost his mind. He's forcing me to stay behind the gates of Neverland 24/7 and there is literally nothing I can do about it. Believe it or not, Michael is pretty powerful. He can get anyone to do whatever he wants, and if he tells his security to trap me inside they will. I really don't stand a chance in this.

Aggravated, I gave up on reading and launched the book across the room. Am I actually sitting here reading a book when I could be living my life? I have 6 months to live. In my 34 years, I've been through more than the average person, and there are a lot of people that I'm not on good terms with. I want to talk to those people and make things right. I don't want to die with pain and confusion and guilt. Is it so bad that I want to clear my conscious before it's too late? That I don't want anyone to remember me in a negative light once I'm gone? That I want to forgive the people that hurt me so I can be truly happy?

As a matter of fact, I'm not doing this. I will not be treated like a caged animal just because Michael doesn't want me to die. Why should I suffer just because he's not ready to face reality? It's not fair, and I've had enough.

I rolled to the edge of the bed and reached for the phone on the night stand. There's only one person in the whole world who can get me out this. I dialed the number and waited for an answer. I just hope Michael didn't have the phones tapped.

"Hello?"

"Jessie, it's me."

"Hey, Boss. What's up? Haven't heard from you in a while..." He said.

I strained my ear to listen for any movement outside of the room. It was silent, but someone could still overhear.

"Hold on one second, Jess." I picked up the base of the phone, wrapping the cord around my hand and went into the closet. I shut the door behind me and put the phone to my ear again. "You still there?"

"Yeah, is everything okay? Why are you whispering?" He asked.

I sighed. "I'm being held prisoner in this house."

He snorted. "What?"

"I'm serious. Michael won't let me leave the ranch. And every time I go outside he has people watching me. Even if I just go to the amusement park."

"Oh my god, you have to be kidding me... What the hell is he doing that for?"

"Remember when I told you I wanted to travel?"

"Yeah..."

"Well Michael is convinced that I'm trying to prepare myself for death or some shit so he wants me to stay here and 'have faith'."

"What the hell? That doesn't even make sense, and he can't just force you to stay there if you don't want to..."

"Yes he can. You know he can."

He was silent for a few seconds. "Damn, Boss. I'm sorry... Michael's taking everything a lot harder than I thought.... I can't believe he's doing this..."

"Yeah me either." I scoffed.

"Who is he to dictate how you decide to handle your situation? It's your life. If you want to travel then he should shut up and book you a flight."
