It was very quiet when I got in the car. I didn't care much. I was still freezing cold. I looked at the time on my phone and realized that I had been walking for almost forty minutes until Colby came and got me. I shivered. Forty minutes and in that time, I had barely made any progress. I would have been stuck here for sure. I likely wouldn't have made it to Colorado in time for RAW. I huddled up into my jacket, trying to get warm. I saw Colby reach in the back and put a blanket over me and turn up the heat. He didn't say anything as he did it and continued to drive in silence. I got warm quickly after that and decided to try and fill the silence. I saw Colby had an AUX cord and pulled it to me. I plugged it into my phone and shuffled my music. The first song to play was My House by PVRIS. I started to sing along with it as the music played.
"You like PVRIS?"
I was surprised by the sudden interaction and it scared me a bit. I looked at Colby and his eyes were pretty focused on the road but I could tell he was interested by me liking PVRIS.
"Yeah, I do."
"How did you get into them?"
"Um, one of my friends got me a cd of theirs once. They said that they were amazing and that I would like it so I listened to it and fell in love with them instantly."
"They are one of my favorite bands."
"Yeah, I think I saw that somewhere."
"What other bands do you like?"
"Um, I like some pop stuff but I mostly listen to a lot of rock. I like Paramore and I listen to some Parkway Drive."
"You listen to Parkway Drive?"
"Yeah, I do."
Colby seemed impressed like this. Was I winning him over with my music tastes? Suddenly, Colby and I started talking about music and playing some of our favorite songs. Who knew that we would be getting along so well over music. To be honest, I was actually enjoying the time I was spending talking about our favorite music. We certainly weren't going to be best friends after this but maybe this is exactly what we needed to at least be good co workers. I could only hope.
Colby and I found many other things we had in common and we started to actually get along in the car. We continued to talk as we entered the hotel. I saw Jon and Joe get up from their seats in the hotel lobby. What were they still doing up?
"Where have you been?! We were worried when we saw Mercedes get out of the car with The New Day guys and you weren't with them. Mercedes said she had never even heard anything about offering you a ride. We called you a million times." Jon was making a huge scene in the middle of the lobby.
"Yeah, sorry about that. My phone died on the way here."
"I'm going to go check in." Colby said before walking to the front desk.
"Ok, I'll talk to you later."
Colby smiled before walking to the front desk.
Jon and Joe looked at me.
"What was that?" Joe smirked.
"What do you mean?"
"You were smiling at him. You were both being friendly towards each other."
"I thought you were mad at me for lying?"
Jon intervened. "Oh, we are. But we are a little curious why you showed up with Colby and how you two didn't kill each other."
"We found common ground. It isn't a big deal. I had a plan."
"A plan?"
"I hitched a ride with him so I could try and convince him to be civil towards me and I be civil towards him. And we bonded over music and now we are going to civil towards each other."
Joe sighed. "I hope you're right."
"Why wouldn't I be? What could I be wrong about?"
"I don't want you going and getting a crush on him or anything."
I laughed. "Trust me, Joe, that isn't going to happen. Why would that happen?"
"Well, you have always written him off because you heard all the stories about him but never really have gotten to know him for who he is. This new found acquaintanceship could make you get to know him for who he really is."
"That isn't going to happen." I said defensively.
"Ok, ok. Don't get defensive. Well, we are going to bed. We'll talk about what you did tomorrow."
"Fine."
"Goodnight."
"Night."
The two walked off after that and I looked over to see Colby grabbing his key. He looked at me before smiling and waved goodbye to me. I waved back and he walked off. What if they were right? No, they couldn't be. I knew what kind of man Colby was. There was no possible way I would 'develop a crush on him'. It wouldn't happen. I sighed and went to check in then went to bed.
