~ Marci's POV ~

I walked into the arena for Extreme Rules. Ever since our day at the farm together, Colby had been avoiding me. I was ok with this but I was a little concerned. I mean, we did have to get along after all. I walked into catering to see the guys getting food. I saw Jon, Joe and Colby dressed and ready to go when I noticed something different about Colby. He turned as I entered the room and that was when I saw it. I gasped.

"Colby, you dyed your hair!"

I only got excited on occasions and this was one of those times. In front of me stood Colby with half of his head dyed blonde.

"Hi to you too."

He sat down and I sat down across from him. I was in awe. There were only two things since high school that made me get somewhat emotional, wrestling and The Shield. I usually didn't show much emotion publicly since high school but wrestling and The Shield brought back that emotional side of me. And to see Colby, no matter how much I despised the man, with blonde and black hair again was exciting.

"I've never seen you this excited before."

"I haven't seen you with black and blonde hair in a long time. It's amazing."

Colby looked at me like I was freaking him out. It was true, I didn't usually get this emotional but I remember wrestling being my little escape in college. I had so much going on and so much stress that wrestling became a little Utopia for me. When The Shield boys came onto the scene in NXT, I was excited to see what they could do and they helped make my life better.

"You need to calm down there. It is just some hair dye."

I sighed. "You're right, sorry."

I started to look away but I saw a hint of a smile on Colby's face as I turned away.

"You ready for this? It is a pretty big match."

Joe and Jon would be fighting Karl and Luke for the WWE Tag Team Championships. I was to get involved and help them win the titles. I was nervous but also really excited to be finally doing more than just standing at ringside.

"I'm ready."

The song hit and we walked in. Every one in the crowd was cheering as we walked down the ramp. I got into the ring with the guys and put my fist with theirs before exiting the ring with Colby. Colby and I stood at ringside and watched the match. The match began and the two teams went at each other. I focused very hard on timing out my interference that I barely paid any attention to my surroundings. And that was my mistake. Because I didn't see Jon starting to fight Luke outside. I was focused on what was happening inside the ring. I also didn't see Luke coming straight for me. I turned just in time to see Luke trying to get himself stopped. But before his body collided with mine, I was pushed away and fell into the barricade. My arm hurt a bit but it wasn't as bad as Luke hitting me would have been. I looked over to see what happened and saw Luke getting up and that was when I saw Colby trying to stand but he had blood dripping from his head. It looked like he hit his head on the ring stairs.

"Colby!"

I ran over to him. Blood was everywhere.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about it."

Jon and the ref came to check on Colby. The crowd was concerned. I was trying to focus on getting Colby help but I just kept looking as his newly redyed blonde hair was turning red. Colby tried standing up but he was unstable.

"I've got to get him to medical." I said as I was starting to walk him. But he was so heavy and Jon could see I was struggling.

"You can't. He is too heavy and you have an important position in this match. I'll take him."

"And leave Joe alone? No."

"Joe won't be alone. You can do this."

"You want me to wrestle? Is that even allowed?"

"You can do this."

I nodded and started to walk over to get on the apron.

"No, absolutely not. She is not wrestling against Karl and Luke. Let me go, Jon. I'm fine."

Jon and I ignored Colby's protests as Jon dragged Colby backstage and I took my place on the ring apron. Joe nodded at me and tagged me in. I got in and Karl started laughing.

"You're wrestling me? Is this some sort of joke?"

And that was when I went in for the attack. I delivered a Spear to Karl before I started punching him on the ground. The ref had to pull me off of him and the crowd started cheering. I could hear Joe clapping on the apron. The rest of the match went smoothly and we were winning. I tagged in Joe and he delivered a Superman Punch to Luke and picked up the victory. Lillian stood from her seat and I could see her smiling.

"And your new WWE Tag Team Champions, The Shield!"

I hugged Joe and lifted up the title. The crowd was cheering even louder than they had when The Shield returned. I heard a couple of people in the crowd chanting my name. This is it. This is what it felt like to be a wrestler. And I wanted more.

We went backstage and Paul didn't seem happy.

"I didn't like you getting in the match like that."

"I'm sorry, sir."

But then he smiled. "But you did great. Congratulations. And because of you performance, Steph and I have decided that next Monday, the 29th, you will be leaving The Shield."

I was shocked. "Wait, what? Next Monday?"

He smiled. I turned to Joe who looked a little surprised.

"I thought this might be around three months, sir?"

"Yeah but after what I saw tonight, she is ready."

"Wow, that's awesome. Congrats, Marci."

"Thanks, Joe."

Joe smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. Was he not happy for me? This is what I wanted.

"Marci, we have some papers to sign and some things to discuss so would you mind going with Steph right now and do that."

"Shouldn't I go check on Colby?"

Joe intervened. "He'll be fine. I'll go check on him. You worry about this. It's more important right now."

"Are you sure, Joe?"

He nodded and left the room. I followed after Stephanie and watched as Joe walked towards medical. Did I do something wrong?

~ Colby's POV ~

"Are you sure Marci is ok?"

"Dude, would you quit worrying about her. I'm sure she is fine."

I had been worried about her since Jon dragged me to medical. Marci was a lot smaller than I was and I knew Luke was much larger than her. That is why I pushed her out of the way in the first place and then she wanted to fight that team? Was she crazy? I had to get stitches as soon as I was brought back. I just wanted to leave already. I heard the door open and Joe walked in.

"Hey, you ok?"

"I'm fine. Where's Marci?"

"Well, that is actually what I want to talk to you about."

Oh no. She got hurt. Was she on her way to the hospital? "Is she ok?"

"Yeah but there has been some news."

"News? Joe, what are you talking about?"

"After Marci's amazing performance tonight in the match, Paul is moving up her solo debut."

"When?"

"Next Monday."

All the air escaped my lungs. Next Monday? I only had a week to be around Marci before she stopped talking to me again? We had been getting along pretty well and then more time we had to spend around each other, the more I got to know her for who she really was. After she made her solo debut, I knew that she wouldn't stay around me. Not a chance. Jon and Joe continued to talk but all I could think about was Marci never talking to me again.
