The loud racket continued. I had gotten up early to watch the GOT marathon and some loud girl was screaming at the top of her lungs and singing. And not very well too. I could barely hear anything that was happening and I finally decided to call the front desk. I had to put an end to this like Joffrey put an end to so many characters beforehand. I called the front desk and a man answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi. You need to take care of something for me. There is a woman that is screaming and singing. Could you please ask her to be quiet?"
"Of course, sir."
He hung up the phone and I waited. I heard the loud noises quiet down and I sighed. Finally. I continued to watch the episode when I heard a knock at my door. I groaned. What now? I went to the door and opened it, a little bit annoyed at who was at the door that would interrupt my show. In front of me stood Marci. I had been avoiding her lately and I was surprised she would be at my door. She seemed surprised as well.
"You're the one that complained?"
And then it all clicked together. Marci was the one yelling? "You're the one that was yelling?"
"Well, I want to say sorry for the disturbance. I was watching Game of Thrones and..."
She watched Game of Thrones? That didn't seem like a show she would like. I looked at her again and sure enough, a Daenerys t shirt was looking back at me. "You watch Game of Thrones?"
"Yeah, why?"
My inner GOT fan started coming out. "I love Game of Thrones. You watching the marathon?"
She seemed surprised by the sudden interaction and so was I. I was supposed to be avoiding her. "Yeah, I'm watching it until the season finale comes on."
I had to end this conversation. "Oh, cool. Well, bye."
I slammed the door and heard her walk back to her room. Crap. I was supposed to be avoiding her, not carrying on a full conversation. I sighed. Every part of me wanted to go and talk with her, maybe watch some Game of Thrones. My brain kept telling me to stay but I didn't want to. I grabbed my snacks and pillow. I called to see what her room was and went to the door. I took a deep breath and knocked. I could hear GOT on the tv playing. The door opened and I saw Marci looking a bit annoyed.
"Look, I haven't made a sound and...Colby?"
"Mind if I come in?"
She looked unsure of letting me in but soon enough, she stood by and let me in. I set my stuff down and sat on her bed.
"What are you doing?
"Well, I will provide snacks if we can watch Game of Thrones together."
"And why would I allow you to do that?"
"Well, since we are friends..."
"We're not friends."
"Fine, whatever we are. But maybe this could be a good thing."
"And how do you suppose that?"
"Because this could be a good little 'bonding activity' or something like that. Maybe we could get to know each other and be able to work together in the future if that ever happens."
She didn't like that answer. She was going to kick me out. I just knew it. I made a big mistake, didn't I?
She sighed. "Fine. Maybe you can stay for a little while."
She sat down as far away from me as possible and I tried not to smile. I started to watch the tv.
"So, who is your favorite House?"
I was a little shocked she wanted to start a conversation.
"I like House Stark a little bit but I really like House Lannister too."
"Ew."
I tried not to laugh as I looked at her. "You don't like my choice?"
"Of course not. Why would you pick Lannister? Tyrion, I get, but all of House Lannister? No, definitely not."
"And which House are you?"
She looked at me like I was an idiot. She pulled her shirt so I could clearly see the picture on it.
"Targaryen, obviously."
"Yeah, I guess Daenerys is pretty cool."
She looked at me pretty angry. "Pretty cool? No. She is the best character in this entire show." She stood up on the bed, getting even angrier. "She has dragons, she is amazing, she is a tough independent woman who doesn't take crap from anyone."
I decided to mess with her a bit. "Yeah, but what about Joffrey? He is better than Daenerys." I was lying, of course, but I was curious about how she would react.
She looked appalled. "Joffrey? Joffrey?! Are you kidding me? I should smack you just for saying that! Joffrey is a horrible person who was born from two other horrible people!"
"Yeah, but villain wise, he is pretty cool." I was trying so hard to keep a straight face. She was still on the bed and was getting furious.
"So? That doesn't make it better! Joffrey is the worst person ever. Ugh! Why can't you just..."
As she was getting angry, she was somewhat stomping on the bed. I had never seen someone get so angry over a fictional show about dragons before. But the passion she had was pretty cute, to say the least. But when she started stomping, she lost her balance and started to fall to the floor. I jumped up and she fell into my arms. She looked at me in horror as she realized that she almost got really hurt. I was in shock too. I thought for sure I wasn't going to catch her in time.
"T-thanks."
"Yeah, no problem. I am used to having girls fall for me."
She gave me an exasperated look and rolled her eyes. I started laughing and she just shook her head. I put her on the bed and sat down next to her. I expected her to move away but she didn't. I looked over at her and she was smiling as she watched the episode. I loved her smile. No, Colby. Don't do that. I sighed and focused on the show. I could make it through this.
"No! What?! You can't leave us with that! Ugh, this is the worst!"
"This can't be the end of the season! That is the worst cliffhanger to date!"
We finally finished the season and we were both so upset. It was one of the worst cliffhangers of the entire series and we were mad. We had an amazing time and I was surprised that we actually managed to get along and get to know each other more. The credits started and Marci fell back on the bed.
"This sucks."
I fell down next to her.
"Tell me about it. How could they end with that?"
"I know right?"
A knock came at the door and Marci got up to get it. She looked at me trying not to laugh as she went towards the door. My heart beat faster and I immediately started grabbing my things. I had to get out of here. I heard Marci talk for a second then close the door. I got all of my stuff together and turned to Marci.
"I should probably get out of here."
"Yeah, it is pretty late."
I nodded and started to walk out the door. Just be normal, Colby. Say something before you go. I turned back to her.
"I had fun tonight. We should do it again sometime." Good, that was normal.
She nodded and smiled. "I would like that."
I tried really hard not too but I smiled back. Focus, Colby, focus.
"I'll see you later."
I gave her a hug and internally groaned before walking out. As soon as I was in my room, I took a deep breath. Could I have been any more awkward? Ugh, why did I have to be so weird. It will all be ok, Colby. Tomorrow, she'll be leaving and you will never have to speak to her again. But did I want that? I thought about it. No, no. There was a reason I stopped avoiding her in the first place. I couldn't be attracted to her. Like Joe said, I couldn't ruin her life. And I couldn't go through what I went through before. I could do it, right? I could avoid her.
