~ April 7, 2018: Hall of Fame After Party ~
"What up, Joe."
I saw Jonathan (Jimmy) and Joshua (Jey) walking towards me. We were at this party and I wanted to go already. It was pretty boring to me, honestly. I just wanted to go back to the hotel and go to bed. But no, I had to socialize and interact with people that I was too tired to actually interact with.
"Hey, guys."
"What's wrong? It's a party, Joe. Live a little. All you do is work. Have some fun in your life."
"I'm too tired for that."
"Boy, stop being tired and go have some fun. Have a couple drinks, dance with some fine women and have a nice time."
"You're forgetting the WWE drink rule, aren't you?"
"Well, that doesn't seem to be stopping Mercedes and Colby over there."
I looked to see what they were talking about and sure enough, Colby and Mercedes were doing shots of tequila.
"Great."
I went over to them. "Ok, you two. You have had enough to drink."
"I-I'm not even t-drunk yet. O-One m-more drink." Colby slurred.
Man, he was wasted. I told him to be careful and what does he do? He pulls this crap. Mercedes was swaying from side to side and about fall over. I sighed and pulled them both towards the car.
"Joe!"
"What, Mercedes?"
"I want to go back to party the party, Joe!" She slurred, spewing her alcohol breath in my face.
"Well, I think you have had enough partying for tonight."
I put them in the back and drove towards the hotel. They were trashed and I can't believe I was now becoming their personal babysitter. Could this night get any worse?
After I delivered the two to their designated rooms, I changed and went to bed. Finally, some peace and...
"Colby, no. Stop." I heard someone yell.
Are you kidding me? Really? I decided that it wasn't my problem. I dealt with enough of stuff tonight and I wasn't going to deal with this.
"He slept with Marci." I heard someone else. Sounded like Colby. No...
"Yeah, I did. She liked it too." I heard someone else that was clearly Jon. What drama could be going on in that room? I groaned and got dressed. I went over to the room and struggled with the key before finally unlocking the door. And what I saw... you've got to be kidding me. There was blood on the floor. Jon was bleeding, Colby had blood on his hands, Mercedes was cowering behind Colby and glaring at Jon. And I, on the other hand, was glaring at all three of them. I grabbed Jon and pulled him away from the scene. I pushed him into my room and sat him on the bed as I started to clean him up.
"What happened?"
"Colby is a psycho, that is what he is."
"Really? And you did nothing to provoke him?"
"No. I didn't."
"Really? Because I heard Colby yell that you slept with Marci. And I am sure hoping that it isn't true."
"Why?"
I put the stuff down and looked at Jon. "Because it would ruin their relationship."
"And so? What if it does?"
"Jon, let me ask you something."
"Ok."
"Do you love Marci? Do you want be with her? If the answer is yes, then you need to get some guts and tell her how you feel. If the answer is no, then stop trying to mess things up."
Jon didn't look me in the eye.
"Look, you may want her. I get it. She is a pretty girl, she is sweet and kind. But the thing is, I have never seen Colby and her more happy than they are right now. It would be a real shame if someone tried to ruin that for their own personal advantage. If you want to be with her, then tell her that. Don't ruin something because you think it will benefit you. Because chances are, this going to come back to you and you're not going to like how it feels."
Jon continued to not look at me as I finished up cleaning up his wounds. I went to bed after that, hoping that things would be better in the morning.
But of course, they weren't. I was walking back to my room with coffee when I saw Mercedes run out of Colby's room. She was still throwing on her clothes as she grabbed her key from me and ran towards the stairs.
"Morning."
Colby looked to be freaking out. "Joe, it isn't what it looks like."
I sighed. "It is what it looks like. And I have every urge to throw this hot coffee on you. But I'm not. You've made your bed and now you have to lie in it, literally."
"Thanks for the jokes, Joe."
"I told you to not get with Marci. That you would eventually hurt her. And now look what happened?"
"I don't have time for your crap, Joe." He looked to be thinking over something. "Where is Jon?"
I figured. He doesn't remember what he did to Jon's face. "My room."
Colby grabbed my key and went inside. I followed behind him as he marched over to where Jon lay, still asleep.
"Do you really think you should be doing that? After already punching him in the face?"
"I did that?"
"Yeah, you went to your room and punched him in the face. I had to diffuse the situation and bring him in here. I took care of his eye and then went to bed while you were...well, you know."
"Yeah, I know."
"You're going to have to tell her."
"I know. Not until after Mania. This is a big night for her. I don't want her distracted. You don't tell her either."
I agreed. He was right. Mania was important. The news could wait. "Fine, I won't say a word."
"And don't tell Jon either. I know he will run his mouth if he hears a word of this."
Too bad I was pretty sure he set the whole thing up. "My lips are sealed."
"Thank you."
He started to walk out but I grabbed his arm.
"I hope that you regret this."
He nodded and walked out. And I knew that he would.
