The night seemed colder to everyone, even the winter guardian who had set Hiccup in their bed. He was pacing, sitting, jumping, and all the while his eyes would go anywhere but his pale partner; the window, porch, floor but not once at Hiccup. He couldn't bare the sight of him. He could bring himself to look at Hiccups blue lips and sweating forehead.

A loud knock distracted Jack, making his pacing die. He shot his head at the door and quickly made his way to the door. He yanked open the door and Alex burst in.

"How is he? Is he still alive?" She asked, running to Hiccups side on the king sized bed.

"He's still alive, surprisingly. I just... I don't know how he is, Tara and Ronan haven't returned so we can't know what his condition is yet." Jack replied.

  Jack.

That voice... It sounded familiar to our young winter guardian. A girls voice, low and soft, talking into his head. Calling his name, but he tried to ignore it and placed all his attention, finally, on Hiccup. His eyes looked sunken and his body drenched with sweat. He squirmed in his bed, his shirtless chest showing signs of the thing spreading.

  Jaaack.

The voice came louder this time, causing Jack to flinch.

  Jack!

This one seemed like a plea for help. Jack's eyebrows knitted together, causing his thoughts to turmoil in his mind.

"Jack!" His head shot up to see Alex's look of concern. He smiled and grabbed her shaking hand.

"Sorry, I was caught up in my own little world." He said, letting go of her hand. Jack sat up and walked out onto the terrace, looking out into the dark palace. He didn't know what he could do. Hiccup was in the room dying and there was nothing he can do. He felt so helpless that it hurt. But Hiccup wasn't the only one on his mind.

  Emma.

That was heavy on his mind. His sister that he saved not nearly 300 years ago, was alive and Hiccup knew that. Does this mean the guardians did as well? Asked Jack in his mind.

"Don't blame yourself," Alex's voice boomed into the silence of the night. He jumped to her voice and turned around to face her.

"I don't blame myself. Not really. I..." That's what he needs to do. He needs to ask someone about Emma's whereabouts. Time to pay a visit to old friends. He grabbed Alex's shoulder and smiled down at her. "I need to leave for a couple, keep an eye on Hiccup for me!" He jumped up and ran inside grabbing his staff.

He stopped at Hiccup and smiled. "I'll be back, don't worry, when Tara gets here you will be all better, I am gonna go out for a bit." He smiled down at hiccup before kissing his lips. He turned and jumped off he Terrace and flew towards the only place he really knew. The North Palace.

He missed that place, but ever since Bunny called Hiccup an abomination, he hasn't seen any guardian since then. He didn't really want to. About an hour later, he arrived, but to his surprise, he wasn't small anymore. He was just fine actually. Well Alex did say if you touch that forest ground you shrink and if you leave it you grow back to size.

Jack sucked in air, standing at the large door. Everything in his power telling him to leave, but hat small brave part of him, made him push open the door. He still didn't move. He seemed frozen at the spot. He gulped down a large was of spit before peeking his head in. His feet still glued until he couldn't see any yete's nor the guardians. He let out a breath and stepped in, his feet finally freeing themselves.

He used the wind to close the door as he walked into the familiar palace. Jack's eyes flickering from place to place. The familiar food place to the familiar rooms, he seemed happy to be here. He continued until he came to the one room he really knew. The room of the giant globe. He walked in and finally saw the elves, yete's and to his surprise, the big four talking and laughing. They didn't seem to be here on official business, but as like.. A family get together. Talk about coincidence. Jack stood there, wondering if his voice will allow him to talk.

"Bunny, come now, surely you didn't vean to hide dat egg far away on purpose," North said, slapping Bunny's shoulder.

"Oi! Mate I didn't, excuse me!" He said.

"Oh quite fighting you two!" Tooth was the one to speak up and Sandy's eyes fell on Jack.

Jack raised his finger to his lips and told Sandy to stay quiet as he wanted to announce himself. Jack took a deep breath but nothing came out. Its been years since he has seen the guardians. Now he's back, to the people who drove him away in the first place, asking for help or support. Was he ready for this?

Well there was no time to spar in his head any longer. The guardians seemed to follow Sandy's glance and all the eyes of the guardians landed on Jack. His face flushed red of embarrassment.

"Jack?" Tooth was the first to break the awkward silence.

"I.. Uh.. I came to ask you guys something." Jack finally got out.

"Wheres that hiccup of yours?" bunny asked, putting venom on Hiccups name.

Jack gulped, the mention of his name bringing stinging  to his eyes. "He... He is fighting with death right now." Jack said, a tear finally releasing itself. "I.. I can't save him... Not when Tara..." Jack fell to his knees. He showed weakness in front of the people he wanted to be strong in front of.

"Oh Jack, its fine, he will survive." Tooth appeared at his side and rubbed his back.

For some reason, guilt bit at Bunny's heart seeing the guardian so broken into pieces in front of him.

"I.. I actually came here to ask you guys something." He said, wiping his tears away. He slowly stood, shakily standing on two feet.

"What is it, Jack?" They asked.

"Did you guys know my sister was still alive?" He asked.

All guardians exchanged shocked looks, but none made eye contact with Jack.

"Yes, we knew, Manny told us not to tell you because he feared that she may become what did he say?" Tooth asked, looking back for support.

"A daughter of darkness." North said.

"A daughter of darkness?" Asked Jack. "That... That can't be true," he said.

"Its what she has in store for her. Its her future." He said.

"How can that be her future, she's been in a coma for 300 years!" Jack shouted.

"Yeah but Jack, imagine, she has been in Pitch's lair all this time. He could've done some horrible things to her. Like, manipulation through dreams or even just making her hate the world with his dammed sand. No matter what, if you do find her, she won't be the same Emma from your memories." Tooth said.

"And what if I seek her out?" Jack asked.

Tooth shrugged. "It could end two ways. Either she kills you, or you kill her." Tooth said.

"Actually three," Bunny cut in. "She takes over your mind, and we'll have to deal with another Dark Jack frost." He said.
